depends on your use, as for OCing if you are looking to push your oc then classified is a better choice, or if you want to go tri sli and use 2 other cards then classified is the one for you, otherwise they will both do the same for you.

for mild-medium (3.3ghz-4.5ghz) overclocks there will be no difference.

For tri-SLI there is no difference

Classified has more BIOS options, and you can fine tune things a bit more, but most don't know how to utilize the fine tuning support, so it is mostly wasted. lol

fair enough, I selected the second stage overclocking (between 4.0GHz to 4.2GHz) on a Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz

remember if you are gaming you will not see a difference between going with stage 1 and getting a 3.7GHz oc and a stage 2 that will get you 4.0GHz.

also when I said if you plan on ocing I meant if you plan on pushing the oc yourself once you get it oced from DS, so like justin said, for the stage 1 OC if you don't need the room the x58 sli will due just fine.

hope that helps a bit

in gaming there is always a bottle neck. Something is always limiting the amount of frames produced.  The bottleneck can be in the CPU, the GPU, the RAM, the hard drive ect. the idea is to create a balanced machine.

The smaller the monitor, the lower the resolution. The smaller the resolution, the less work for  your graphics card(s). But the graphic cards can only render the amount of frames that the CPU can create, so that means more work for the CPU..

Also some games like flight sims, are very CPU intensive, the more CPU power the more stuff it can draw further out..

Just like adding a more powerful graphics card, or going with multiple graphics cards, you need more CPU to create all those frames.

So some games will never use more than a 2.5Ghz chip, if the resolution is high and the graphics card is not that powerful, while others can see gains with very fast chips 5ghz+.  Depending on the type of game, and how it is coded.

So bottom line, by pushing components very hard, reducing life, creating tons more heat, power draw, for small gains really makes no sense.  But lol neither does 300 horse power street bikes. lol

Very few games will take advantage of a higher oc then 3.8GHz, but in other things then gaming the cpu speed will make a difference, in gaming it does not make a noticeable difference when you are at and above 1600 x 1200.

encoding, editing, etc all use cpu speed and will benefit the faster the cpu is.

I mean from 3.8GHz to 4.0GHz you won't see any major gains but from 3.8 to 4.2 or higher you will see a good difference in the time editing task and etc., will take, but in gaming you won't see it, if you have 1 x 275 or a better card, you will not see any gains above a 3.7GHz cpu speed at 1600 x 1200.
