So I finally pulled the trigger on the Extreme 1 and now I need a new monitor.  Trouble is I am torn between getting a smaller, quality panel with a lower res (Dell 2209WA) or a 24" 1920x1200 TN panel...Would love a 24" IPS panel but simply cannot afford it...I would put my budget at $500.00 MAX, and would feel much better closer to $300.00.

So does anyone have an opinion on what would be the wiser choice?  I am leaning towards that 22" Dell IPS panel but at the same time I did just buy a new rig with 2 video cards and I feel somewhat inclined to get a 1920x1200 monitor...

I was originally going to snag the Dell 2408WFP but now I am concerned with input lag/response time on that VA panel...

Any and all suggestions or advice would be appreciated :)

When I got my new DSO rig a year and a half ago, I posed the same question to the boards. The overwhelming majority pointed me towards Samsung.  I ended up getting a 22 inch one and only regreat that I didn't go with a 24 inch.  Samsung makes some great monitors, and if you search around on the web, you can get amazing deals with no tax and free shipping (I got mine from PriceGrabber.com). It was under 300 bucks and also had a mail in rebate for $50!.

I agree with Dog Lover's idea of going with a samsung. Make sure you check out the reviews on them, of course, but I do samsung everything when it comes to monitors/tvs and they are always great!

Quality is generally more desirable than quantity, but maybe you can find a great deal and get both.

2408WFP or BenQ G/V2400W come highly recommended from Skyr who amongst many things is also our monitor guru.

Well I'm happy to hear most of you prefer Samsung as I am a marketing rep for them (TVs) in Boston Evil%20Smile but their non-TN panels are out of my price range.

I'll have to take a look at that BenQ I guess and see what's going on.  I am so close to the 2408WFP but the input lag has me worried.

P.S. if anyone has any TV related questions I would be happy to help :)

Ha lol nah they pay me fine but the discount isn't worth it take takes employees 4-6 weeks to get somethig direct I can't wait that long for a hundred bucks off...and the Sammy monitors I would want are up over $700.00, unfortunately...

Glad you're happy, though :)
