I noticed Dell launched a new monitor:
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&sku=225-4015#reviews How does that compare with the U2711? Should I mix and match these for 3 panel gaming? They are a lot cheaper but I don't understand why. BPrat -- I know you're hiding out there. Whats this all about man? http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&sku=224-8284 Regards, Xii |

Hi xii,
Here is a link comparing the 2 side by side from Newegg: The differences I see are: U2711 displays more colors. 1.07 billion to 16.7 million, has a faster response time 6ms to 8ms and has more connectors. The new U2713HM uses less power and is lighter. I hope this helps |

Hey thanks mate. Really appreciated.
I wonder how that new monitor would work for gaming. |

Both of those Dells are 27" and 2560 x 1440. You could also consider the ASUS PB278Q which has identical size & res but 5ms response and a lesser price.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236294 The thing is, at this resolution, this panel type (IPS for Dell, PLS for ASUS), and these particular models, you're looking at a frame or so of input lag (a different stat than pixel response time) with all of them. This is either okay or not okay depending on what kinds of games you play and how demanding you are of their snappiness. |

Hi xii... how's the Black Sheep holding up?
About Dell, the new 2713 is by specs a inferior monitor to the 2711 but in practice is just as good plus thinner, lighter and LED lit for energy conservation. It does have fewer inputs but for most it probably won't matter. I believe its cheaper because of fewer inputs plus the LED allows fewer heatsinks and other cost cutting measures. Unless your a professional editor , photographer, etc that needs the richer color gamut I think the 2713 will be the one to get. It makes stepping up from the 24" to a 27" with higher res a little easier. |

Haha - Happy Birthday mate.
Yea, I play FPS, RPGs things like that. Ill prob stick with the U27 unless the ASUS will work with a U27 in the middle for Nvidia Surround. I'm not sure, I think they need to be the same monitor. @Bprat -- I'm telling you, my PC is the beginning of Skynet man. |

Glad to hear. I really had no doubt.
3D Vision I believe has to be all the exact same monitor. 2D displays can be different but the lowest resolution is what they all default to. Not 100% but sounds right. |

Yeah, I'd stick with more of the model you already have.
