I generally recommend the Dell Ultrasharp IPS displays for top viewing quality and very accurate colors.
I use 3 of the new Dell U2412m displays ($319 at newegg.com) with my DS Hailstorm (Sabertooth X79 Mobo/
i7 3930k & SLI 680's)... The larger 27" model is the Dell U2713HM (on sale at $699 on newegg).    Both panels get very positive reviews.   See lots of monitor reviews at www.tftcentral.com    or   www.CNET.com    or www.prad.de/en/index.html     Both are LED backlit IPS monitors for low heat and low power consumption.   The 24" is a 16 x 10 aspect ratio panel with 1920 x 1200 resolution.... the 27" Dell is a 16 x 9 aspect panel with 2560 x 1440 resolution.
