Looking for something with 21:9 (ultra-wide), WQHD (1440 vertical pixels), HDR and built-in speakers to meet my currently-in-stage 6 build when it arrives.

Those of you with DS computers, what displays are you rocking?

Dell Alienware AW3418DW 34 is the widescreen that's been recommended here.

Most often, 27" 1440p screens seem to be the ones members like.

>Asus ROG Strix PG279Q

>LG GL850

>Acer Predator XB271HU bmiprz 27"

I'm happy with my 1080p 1920x1200, so I don't use any of these.

I do have the Alienware AW3418DW 34" curved monitor that Cretae mentioned above. I have no complaints with it at all, gives a beautiful picture on a lot of screen real estate. I have it connected to an Intel i7 9700K and the RTX 2070 Super.

However, it does not have HDR, nor speakers, as you requested in your post. I would recommend using external speakers anyway for a better audio experience. I don't know what effect HDR would have, I am very happy with the picture quality as is.

Yeah ideally I would want 4k/HDR given I'm spending top dollar on a DS rig I would want to be able to enjoy it to the fullest. That said I have need for some work applications as well so the wider screen to 21:9 aspect does help. Also most new TV's have pretty good built-in speakers (unless you're a Dolby connoisseur) so I would imagine these monitors have the same, no? In any event I would want the speakers more for convenience (i.e. joining webinars) if the audio quality were so important (i.e. Spotify) I would just use my over-ear bluetooth headphones.

Instead of speakers through a monitor, why not cordless headphones? They are likely to have much better sound capability and a microphone.

Good thing I see it as Prime eligible, may give this a try. But yeah come to think about it it seems not many games these days have HDR, I remember how it was spectacularly absent from Red Dead Redemption and the colors in COD Warzone are pretty bland to begin with even on my HDR-enabled TV set.

"1440 vertical pixels" is not 4K. If you want much better than a 60 Hz 4K monitor, you're going to pay maybe $1000 and up. Then you have to have the most expensive GPU you can get to drive it. For that investment, the visual improvement isn't worth it. Unless you have 2K and 4K side by side, you'd never know. If you want to go fishing, here are some more choices:

AFIK, you're not going to find speakers built into a higher-end monitor. That usually comes in the $100-300 range. You really short yourself in gaming without a sub-woofer.

I ordered a Dell S3220DGF for my new computer. It has good reviews so hopefully I like it.

I had tried out a Pixio 27 inch monitor, but it arrived defective with a stand that could not attach to the back of the monitor so back it went.

I guess that is the risk you get ordering from a smaller monitor maker.

I'm using an X-34 predator 21:9 and have been pleased with it. I've been wanting to try a 4k display, but having found any >30in so I stick with what I have.

Cretae, FWIW so far I am very happy with the LG 27GL850. I need to calibrate it still, but right out of the box it has been great at 1440p @ 144 Hz.

Very good to know, and I was hoping for that. I like having an alternative to the Asus and the Predator G-Syncs. They are often on sale a bit, but I still think they are over-priced for such older models. Thanks, John18!
