I'm planning to get a rig with 2x SLI Dual (nVidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB). I don't know what monitor to get though. I'm thinking of buying a 22 inch LG monitor with 1680 x 1050 maximum resolution. Is it good enough? Or should I get one with higher resolution to experience the true potential of the video card? I'm gonna use the computer for games like crysis and unreal tournament 3. What resolution do you suggest for me? My budget is only $500. |

I use a SyncMaster 245BW 24" at maximum resolution. Very pleased with it.

I bought mine at Circuit City a few months ago. It was less than these prices. Around $384.00.

22 to 24inch will be a decent monitor for a SLI set up.
Here is mine a 27.5 hanns G. I got the best buy show model for 429.99. It gets good reviews, id give me a solid 3.8 out of 5. The contrast is a bit weak on it, so telling things like a deep purple vs a black is very hard to do. Plus its so large that if you arnt sitting up perfectly straight the top or bottom of the screen will go black as the viewing angle isnt that large. It also has quite a ton of backlight bleeding. Other then that though its been a solid monitor so far.
Native rez is 1900x1200.

Its not bad, just has a few flaws in it, but if your a stickler for perfect picture quality, it isnt the one for you. Its pefect for gaming though. Cept for dark games i guess, since the contrast is kinda suck...dark games its like...you cant see a damn thing..haha.

After playing around with the contrast and brightness we wound up finding some settings that provide good picture quality. Is this the type of monitor we would use to blu ray movies??? Nope.
But it is a darn good monitor for gaming.

For the OP, SLI kicks in at resolutions of 1280x1024 and up. For a budget of $500, might as well get a 24inch. (plus tax and or shipping)

Samsung 245BW. I have a single 8800GTS and it runs games at 1920x1200 with no problems. You should be good to go with a 24 monitor.
