you can just get a usb 3.0 card if you want for now.

3.0 can be supported via update? You mean they don't have to specially create motherboards supporting 3.0 and can just update the BIOS so it's supported? Ooo, this changes everything then...

so you do have to get a motherboard supporting USB 3.0 out of the factory, right...

yes and no, I have a few USB 3.0 motherboards now, so yes I can hook a USB 3.0 device to them, in the back panel, or you can get a PCIe card adapter from what DST is saying, to add to you non USB 3.0 motherboard.

I could, but I'd rather have a fully USB 3.0 supporting system, heh. Oh wait, um, for any chassis mounted USB ports, if I connect them to a USB 3.0 motherboard, they'll only still support 2.0...right...Wink

Any idea when USB 3.0 HDD enclosures will be coming out? Hesitated to get one lately because of 3.0 coming out soon.

I hate to give any recommendations on products I have not used, especially products I will not ever use. lol
I just know that 3.0 USB HDD enclosures have been out, sorry.
 
USB 3.0 Flash drives, now that is what I am waiting for, soo much better for me than a external HDD, just my opinion. lol

they talk about USB 3.0 flash drives, and how they want them to come to market, but don't see much for ones that are for sale.

ooH sorry...I had to re-read the article again. It's Sata. I mis-read on the part where it said esata perfomance would not drop those two were lines were close i mixed it up.
