I'm looking at buying a computer from DigitalStorm with the Nvidia 780i mobo. The only problem is in selection options there is no information on who the manufacture is. Does anyone knows what brand of motherboard they put into their gaming computers?

Digital Storm uses XFX, EVGA, and ASUS. If you want a specific brand, specify it through phone or email.

Thank you skyR.
incase anybody does not know, xfx and evga are nvidia boards with xfx or evga making their own tweaks and modifications to it. |

I have a similar config in stage 4 at the moment. I was told it would come an evga mobo and gpu. t The evga mobo and gpu have better reviews then the xfx and I will be vary upset if I dont get the evga hardware I was told they will use in my rigg!!! Anyone out there been told they were getting one brand but the pc came with another? Should I worry? Do you think it is too late to make sure I get evga hardware? should I have them change out the mobo if they did use xfx or is it too late???????

If you asked for evga then that is what you should get, I doubt if they send you xfx, if they do call them up, they will take care of you, but I would be surprised if they did send you anything other then evga.

I didn't request EVGA when I called my order in I asked what brand the mobo and gpu DS used. He did not say anything about XFX only that DS uses EVGA and that is what i want. It is upsetting that he didn't say they had a different brand they cuold use if you don't specify you want EVGA!! He said DS ONLY uses EVGA!

well lately I have been hearing xfx having problems maybe they dropped it.
the problem is that from time to time we hear the management and DS say one thing and the mods say different. I can see why its confusing when skyR tells us they xfx and evga and when you call DS they say they use evga. it would be nice if both places said the same thing. |

I just got off the phone with DS and the perison i spoke with said they do not use EVGA motherboards anymore. That sucks big time! I do not like being lied to. I was told EVGA not XFX when I ordered my $3500 rigg!! It is in stage 6 now so they might be telling me that so they don't have to start over. But I can always get my money back! Thats alot of money to not get the parts I want!!

Daygn call them back and ask to speak to alex, what the guy tells you over the phone is not what is in your system, alex can answer your question about your system better
besides if you gonna send it back, better to tell him now. |

I Was told he is not there right now. I should have asked for chris after Iwas told Alex was not there. He would know what is in my rigg. Anyway I was really mad last post now that I have calmed down some I do not think I will get my money back at this time and will only send it back if it is a lemon like my old abs pc was untill I fixed it. Please don't send me a lemon!

well Chris is on right now, maybe he can double check.
BTW anything you have to say to DS directly, don't use this forum, call them, some things on the forum they don't see, and they always ask people to call them for specific stuff. But listen, DS doesn't sell crappy stuff, should your mombo turn out to be a bad one, then they will take care of you and fix it. thats what I love about DS, worst case scenario, you got nothing to worry about, they will take care of you Edited by DST4ME - 17 Oct 2008 at 2:35pm |

I received an Evga 680i motherboard and later on (at my request for an upgrade) an XFX 790i motherboard. Both run wonderfully. I have had absolutely no problems with either motherboard.
I wouldn't be so concerned about which of the two brands you receive. They are both top-of-the line and DS will thoroughly check your computer before it is sent to you. If they told you that you will receive EVGA, then you should receive it. But if you want to double check, just throw an email/call to Eric, Alex, Chris or any member of their other staff and i'm sure they will be happy to go find your computer and check for you.
Now if it were Zotac, i'd be a little more concerned! haha.

Well, here is the official word. We carry both XFX and EVGA but XFX is more popular due to how we get our supply. We have them both and they both function quite well especially with the new BIOS update for the XFX boards.
XFX is good with technical support and helps us out quite a bit. Don't worry we carry both types of boards and they will not leave our facility with any problems and I even spoke with Brian personally and I believe that he is okay and he has my personal line if he has any further questions. |

do the test boards normally give a true presentation? or is it one of those things that you get those results only from the test board?

Well I am staying with the XFX board. It should be ready for me to pick up today but can not pick it up untill wednesday (my girlfriend gets my mon/tues). I will post my config, my oc speeds, my 3dmark vantage scores and my crysis benchmark sores soon after. Still not that confident about XFX hardware. But at least I know who not to talk to at DS when I need help/info for my rigg.

I feel silly in this crowd now :/ I specifically contacted DSO and verified both XFX 790i and GTX 280... Maybe I'm the oddball and I didn't know it!

Not at all intellax, we all each have our own preferences for our own reasons, unless something is really messed up with one, which there is not, then we will have different preferences and there is no reason to change it.
bottom line is that its a DS system and no matter what we put in it, if it fails we are covered
you will find plenty of people here that like xfx and plenty that will like evga. nobody is an oddball, we are all people who appreciate a good custom system
some like xfx, some like evga, I'm a evga person myself, but there is nothing wrong with xfx. You are among friends Edited by DST4ME - 18 Oct 2008 at 2:18am |

I was mostly joking :) It's not that I dislike eVGA, it's just more that I like XFX because I've good experiences with them and their customer service before. Not that I'll be needing it again!

I understand, I'm the same way with evga, its not like I don't like xfx either but just like you for the same reasons as you, I like evga.
lets hope it stays that way for the both of us and we never have a good reason to use the other

Asus is my mobo of choice but the striker 2 is still having so many issues that I decided to use a different brand. After all of the pro/user reviews and benchmarks I have read I chose EVGA. This was months before I even knew of DS. XFX always had lower reviews and benchmark scores for their mobos and XFX gpus were right there with EVGA. When I was told my hardware in my rigg would be EVGA I thought of how lucky I was to find DS cause it was an accident I found them. My last pc was an ABS pc and was a lemon from day one untill I bought a new os and hardware to fix it. support I got from ABS was like I was speaking a different languge and all of the different people new less about pc's then I did and it was my first pc. I am just worried about it happening again.
