Hi,
I have the EVGA X58 3X SLI board
My question is that i have 2 graphics cards running SLI, my 2 way bridge is defective and i have try every which way to see if it would work. Well it didn't.
I was told the my 3 way bridge would work, so i had to rearrange my cards and sound card so i could make it work.
I have the cards in slots 3 and 5 and the sound card in slot 1 (which the manaul says slot 1 is the primary) Do i get the full potential of both cards running SLI? Or do i need to run the cards in slots 1 and 3?
What confuses me is the side notes in the manaul.
NOTE: When using 1 graphics card in PCI-E : slot 1 a speed of x16 with be used.
NOTE: When using 2 graphics cards in PCI-E : slot 1 and 3 a speed of x16/x16 with be used.
NOTE: When using 3 graphics cards in PCI-E : slot 1, 3 and 5 a speed of x16/x8/x8 with be used.
So if i have to use the the slots 1 and 3 i can not use my sound card unless i go and buy a SLI bridge. (trying to avoid that)

yeah that mobo sux for two cards and a PCIe sound card, put the graphics cards in the top two and the sound card in the bottom... not much else you can do with that board.

for your setup, it would be perfect, but your graphics cards do not need any more than 8x lanes.. you can go up to 2 GTX 285's and be fine on 8x speed, only the GTX 295, the 5870, 5890 can max out a 8x lane

How about I remove the 2 tabs on one end of the 3 way SLI bridge. If I do this then I can keep my 2 video cards in slot 1 (primary) and slot 3 to get maximum performance. It fits if I do it this way.
Justin where you at?!?!? LOL |

Ok I have to leave a message for them to call me. Also how do you know if you are getting the full SLI performance (if the bridge is bad)? I know that it can run through the MOB instead of the bridge. Is there some type of program that let's you see the how it's running

you can use the SLI meter? maybe? lol in the Nvidia panel. The only way I know of is to benchmark them and if they seem way low, and I swap out the bridge and the scores come back up..
