Hey all, So the mobo options for am5 arent great. Will DS allow a different mobo of my choosing assuming i of course pay the difference and it fits the case (velox) ? Reason is I prefer MSI vs asus and there are much better MSI am5 options. I am looking to have faster ram capabilities, as the msi option listed here only supports 4800, and the pci slot if only 4.0. I want 5.0.

I do not know what Digital Storm's current policy is on OEM motherboards, but when I first ordered a machine some ten years ago, I asked for an ASRock motherboard, since the company did a better job of supporting Linux distros. My request was treated as a special order item and was excluded from Digital Storm's warranty (the rest of the parts were still covered.)

Result: My machine with the ASRock motherboard gave me ten years of flawless service until Microsoft changed the minimum hardware requirements on Windows 11.

Best wishes and happy adventures.

P.S. My special order did delay the assembly of my machine so if Digital Storm still allows special order motherboards, please don't be surprised if your machine takes a bit longer to build and test.

Thank you! Im not as worried about pci 5.0 as none of the current gen gpus support it. I was more concerned with the memory speeds. I emailed DS so Ill see what they say

Welcome to DS.

DS has been known to order whatever you want in your system and charge you accordingly (for the hardware, special ordering and handling). The Velox, although branded as a mid-size case, will hold an EATX mobo with plenty of space to spare.

Keep us posted.

Just be cautious about your expectations.

Not the board or brand you're considering, but a fair review and warnings about marketing and more:
