I find this a little odd. My Microsoft laser mouse stays lit even after my system is turned off. But if you unplug it when it's off and plug it back in ..it stays off. Did not have that experience with my other pc.

If you are using Vista, you have to select Shut Down from the extended shut down menu as Vista defaults the power button to Sleep.

The mouse stays on in Sleep mode so you can easily turn on your computer and resume your previous session by moving your mouse.

can you give more specifics of what mouse it is exactly?

also, if you shut down the cpu then flick the CPU power SWITCH or pull the power cable from the back... what happens to the mouse then?

If your using a laptop, take battery pack out.

If your using a desktop, take the power plug out and it'll take a while maybe if your using a large WATT Supply because energy is still in your system and it drains it till it turns to 0.

If it still consists, change WATT supply or call a technician. Check www.nntechservice.com they helped me with battery problems

does it happen for more than say 20 minutes after you power down?
my guess is that the mouse is retaining power and keeps the led on for a bit, not that its still getting power from the PSU, but pulling the cables shuts it down bc it kills the circuit

My mouse does the same thing. My guess is that the energy stored in the motherboard's capacitors is enough to keep an LED going in the mouse for an extended period beyond shutdown. If I'm right, the LED would gradually bleed power from the cap(s), and would eventually drain it entirely, so the mouse would appear to go "off" several minutes after system power down. I suppose if you *really* wanted to know, you would try to trace the power from the USB ports back to a specific capacitor(s), calculate the power draw from an LED, and see if the amount of time before the LED went off corresponds to the expected capacitative value. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Tongue

Have to add some ports in the back. Also sometimes when my pc boots up or restart my mouse cursor is frozen on the screen and my mouse is not lit up.

I think I'm going to have to contact DS. Starting to get a little frustrated about this

It's on when I shutdown. The only way it goes out is when I shutdown and turn the power switch off in the back. Then it comes on when I bootup.

E-mailed XFX about my motherboard and explained the situation and they told me that this is NORMAL for the 680i motherboard. The only way to turn the mouse off is to turn the switch in the back off or unplug it from the wall. They said that this is no problem and everything is ok.
So be it.
