I'm not a fan of dual GPU set-ups. Single cards are so powerful these days that fewer and fewer game designers will even program for that going forward. Oh, and very, very few program for that now. IMHO, you are planning to spend an awful lot of money on an obsolete set-up.
By summer, as well, we will be very close to the next gen of Nvidia cards release. you could buy that NVLink set-up and see the new 3080 Ti (or whatever they call it) beat it all hollow for less, with none of the problems. Save on NVLink, save on PSU. You don't want a SATA ssd for your primary drive Storage Set 1). Get any flavor of NVMe you want for 5 times the speed. I prefer one of the ~500GB models so that the primary can perform system scans in mere seconds when necessary. I'm not trying to rain on your parade, I just have a lot of experience going back decades to know that you can't really plan now for what's going to be a good rig even just a few months from now. |
