Hello, I just wanted to say first of all... I don't claim to be an
expert in anything computer related, that being said... I do think I
have a decent knowledge of most computer hardware.
Anyways, I am currently looking to build a new computer, It has been a good 4 years since I have built a computer and I'm kind of out of the loop when it comes to the new, the best, or the most reliable. My last computer costs around $800, but I plan on going big this time. My ideal price range would be around $2,500 - $3,500 range. I want this computer to last at least 4 or so years. (like my current build) I have been messing around with the custom building tool, and came up with this. Please if you have any suggestions on any changes feel free to call me a jack-ass and lemme know what I should change. P.S. I am going to be using this game for massive amounts of gaming, I currently work out of the house and I'm on the computer a lot. I plan on playing games like, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Modern Warfare 3, Elder Scrolls Skyrim, ect... Now is there anything here that is overkill? This build is about $800 above my budget. But I could always hold out for a few months. |

I'm also NOT an "expert" in computer hardware and compatibility, but I'll give you what I think you could do to save some money and make your new build last ~4ish years.
First of all, if you have the time, take a look at the DS ODE 3 pre-built system (Products -> Gaming Computers -> Special OPs -> ODE -> Level 3). It is a great system for the price. The only thing I could suggest for you is adding the 6 year limited warranty plan. If you insist sticking with your build.. (These are my views on your system on how I'd like it.. but this is your build so I suggest building something that you want, not something tells you to build). :)
I'm sure someone else will come along and give a better review than me and provide better feedback, I'm just trying to jump into the DS community. :) |

Very good points,
The 1200W PSU, I wasn't sure how much power was needed for this build so if any suggestions. Yeah I will switch the SDD around that's no problem. The optical drives, Yeah I guess I don't need both. I actually don't need either, but the drives I have in my current build seem to crash my computer when they read a disc about %30 of the time. (annoying but never bothered trying to fix). So I would rather have a new one. (Im assuming the blu-ray can read DVD/CD-ROMS?) Yeah the money would prolly be spent better towards a new router. Again with the cooling, I wasn't sure about the level of cooling I would need, but I defiantly wanna try water cooling, as the computer I have now, overheats fairly easily (Playing Team Fortress 2). Also im about to move into a house, where my "Man Cave" has a fireplace in it, so the room will prolly be toasty in the winter months. The internal lighting and enhancements is not a big deal to me, as far as price is concerned, its fairly cheap for some good looks. I will be taking my computer to LAN party's so it's for more then just my own pleasure. Intimidation is a valuable key to victory. I could prolly scrap the Noise Reduction. Yeah wasn't sure about the mem fan, never had that much ram crammed into a Motherboard so wasn't sure. The OS boost I wasn't sure about, but it's free and I have yet to use Windows 7. The Recovery tools is good for me, I have a bad habit of formatting my computer if I have any problems I cant fix immediately (For example registry virus's) Yeah I use AVAST free right now, haven't had any problems so far. But I guess I was being paranoid with such a pricy build i wanna make sure its taken care of. I need new speakers, mouse, and keyboard. I could get cheaper one's I suppose but the price difference is trivial in comparison to the total cost. Yes, I'm not sure why I didn't upgrade the warranty plan, since I plan on keeping this build for some time. |

I was asked earlier about my monitor I'm currently using a 23 inch LG LCD with resolution set at 1920-1080.
Not sure how to acquire more information I checked in dxdiag and my Nvidia settings but couldn't find anymore information on my monitor sorry. |

I just realized I typed VGA instead of AVG Security, ha.
Anyways, take a look at the ODE 3, I think it will be worth your time as it is a good price and will probably work with what you are looking for. As for your monitor, as long as it has DVI (not VGA, ha!) you'll be fine.. But once again I don't notice a big difference in monitors, some people have to have IPS Monitors or 120hz.. All depends on what you like. |

Hi Albinodarkelf,
Take a look at this system for $2937. You can change it to meet your needs. Configuration #600221 You don't want the i7 9XX series of CPU. The 2600K is a better choice. It is easier to OC and heat is not a problem. Get the stage two OC. Ask DS to add a 200mm fan to the top of the case. No need to go LC with this case. Drop the fan upgrade. The fans are small and noisy. then the build frank made is the one I would have made, and that is the one you want, or you can get ode 3, but then in the future if you want to upgrade the sli to future cards and they have needs of a 580 sli the 800w can't do it.
