i ordered a computer about a week ago and its in stage 4, i got a few questions about what i got tho. i do not know that much about computers so bare with me.
1.what is advantage of controlling fan speeds. i got the lcd monitor to control speed of the fans and recently found out it can only control 2 of the 4 fans. so i questioned weather i really needed it or not?
2.my computer is going to be solely for gaming i am not even going to go on internet unless the game needs it(or playing online) for fear of viruses. is 2gigs of 800mhz ram going to be enough or am i going to need to upgrade soon?
3.is liquid cooling worth getting?
i would give the order number for specs but i got emailed the wrong specs(i called and they said they had right order just sent wrong reciept. appreciate any feedback.

1. you don't need it, you can control your fans with a software. advantages are that you can adjust temps and noise.
2. 4GB is a safe bet, but when you get your pc, if 2 is not doing it for you, you can always order 2GB, installing them will be very easy. 3. if you OC yes, LC is very much so worth it. |

OC is nothing but settings in the bios to raise the speed of your CPU.
for example we have people on the forum with the q9550 chip. now this chip's stock speed is 2.83GHz, people here that have it OCed, have speeds of 3.4 to 3.8GHz, a PC running at 3.8GHz is much much faster then one running at 2.83GHz. also just fyi, remember you only want the cpu Liquid cooled. nope there are no games that will give you trouble, and if you OC the e8600, you can expect around 4.0GHz OC speed which is very nice.
with that psu, you have room to add another 260 gtx down the road if you need to

who told you XP can handle only 2GB of ram? thats false, I'm running XP with 4GB of ram, any 32bit OS can address 4GB of total ram

NO that is completely wrong, any 32bit OS can address upto 4GB of ram total, that includes your gpu ram.
I'm surprised they told you that, which and how many GPUs did you get? Edited by DST4ME - 18 Nov 2008 at 10:47pm |
