This is the rig I have configured. Any suggestions to make it better?, more stable? etc...?
I was also hoping someone can clarify what DS's tweaking of the OS includes. That looks like a very sensible selection. Other than adding a third smaller HDD for the operating systems, I don't see anything that needs changing.
You could consider a 9800GTX over the 8800GTX, but this would depend on the resolutions you intended to use the system at. The two cards trade blows at resolutions of 1920x1200 and above, with a slight to moderate edge going to the older 8800GTX. At lower resolutions, the faster clock and memory speeds of the 9800GTX provide it with a decided advantage over the older card. I would personally suggest the 9800GTX is an overall better value, but again, this will depend on intended use. |

Tyler, thankx for the information. In the time from posting this topic and reading your reply, I had already changed up my config to the 9800GTX. I also will take your suggestion at adding a small HDD for the operating systems.
I still would like to know if anyone has information on what DS's tweaking of the operating systems includes. |
