1. y the 975 u dont need 4 cores 2 play fsx from the beginning so y pay an extra 1,000 for 975
2.u dont need faster memory for FSX 6 gigs of 1333 is the better choice
3.y do u need the blue-ray writer and and player??? are u gonna watch a blue ray on your computer vs. a 42 inch LCD t.v??? + a blue-ray d.v.d cost 10$a  pop
4.id wait till the end of the year and get a solid state drive which is much faster and theyll be cheaper
5.THE 285 at 2 GB is serious Overkill at that on a 24 inch monitor, wont be needed u could use 1 275 and still play fsx on high
6.the HAF has a stock red led fan so unless u want a blue red= purp effect change that fan
7. you processor is gonna kill fsx  stock so u definately dont need it OC to 4.0
8.skip the monitor its not covered in DSes waranty ud be better of getting a bigger monitor 30 inch with the cash ure saving u can afford 1 with just what u saved on the processor LAWL.
9 the speakers are cool but not necessary and i dont think their covered with the warranty wither
10. just with the money u saved from cuts u could
    1 get a bigger monitor
    2 take a vacation
    3 buy a desk
4 get you vid card lCed just cuz the extra tubing looks awsome
5.get an extra vid card (like i gave you) to run a bigger monitor
     6. buy surround sound for you house and computer
11. u dont need 1,000 watts for my config i dont believe 1,000 wats just more future proof
P.S. FSX dosent use sli
all in all youll still be as blown away with you fsx performace as your 1st config

BTW, anything you build here will be able to play FSX with flying colors. Provide us with some additional information such as your desired monitor resolution, things you commonly use your pc for, things like that.

I'm fairly sure he is referring to the Stage 1 OC being a better value then Stage 2 OC...

If you are only going to play FSX you don't need a computer from DS, IMO.

All core i7's are quad core

there is no reason not to oc the processor.
i know its not specific but i was saying he doesnt need a quad core at all so he might as well get the cheapest 920

i ment that he might as well get a stage 1 OC but even thats not needed not run fsx smoothly. i have the gold pack and i think the req are like 2.0 ghz(single core)
15 GB on the hard drvie and like 1GB of ram since just about any stock computer here can do that he might as well go basic settings now if he played games like Assasins creed, or crysis diffrent story

really appreciate everybody's advise!!!!!!!!
I Just feel that I want the best for fsx since I have struggled so much with playing the sim on my old dell dimension 8400 3.4ghz which is 4 and one half yrs old.
I plan on getting 24"monitor Samsung and going at a 1900x1200 resolution

as for the processor 975 just thought I would go with the best since FSX so dependant on that, and I"m not going to be buying another computer for another 4yrs or so.

the speakers I might get on miy own, I"m kinds of spoiled this way, recenlty my Klipsch v.2-400 just blew out.

I just don't want to have those issues with fsx of bluuries, stutering, load time, and so forth.

but please keepn otn throwing your thoughts around, and sooner or later I will have to make a decision

My budget overall including monitors and speakers is 5k I guess that's why we have a bit of overkill on some of the specs.

the processor wont make a diffrence in gaming a 975 and 920 OC to 3.8 will do the same performance in gaming. I repeat it wont be worth 1k just for fsx. im just saying since yhe monitor  aint covered in the warranty if it breaks or anything ds wont be the ones to replace it go to best buy or tiger direct and get an awsome monitor with the cash u saved by going with a 920. all were saying is 1 game aint worth all that u could get an gateway cpu with an i7 that will run fsx great from best buy for like 1.5 k if you were an hard core gamer or did other things wed say go otherwise. i mean literally from what im getting from u u wanna spend 5 k almost just to play one game. im only trying to give u what you want yet save u as much money as possible.

my whole thougth process, is that in a yr. or so your computer is a bit outdated, with all the new technolgoy, and try to get the best for your needs now and not worry about updating your computer, in a yr. or so again.

Basically your're saying to run fsx, the 920 OC will do just as well as a 975 OC ?
1300 mem will do just as good as 1800 mem, 6gb ?

Or you could save your money and upgrade when you need too, if you know how. And if you don't know your way around computer hardware then you can have DS do it or learn to DIY.

920 oced to 3.6GHz

950 oced to 3.6GHz

975 oced to 3.6GHz

the same would hold true at 4.0 OC for all 3, same performance and stabilitly.
Because what I am thinking, the money that I save now, originally was buying 285 video card, I"ll up grade it to the Nividea 300 series when that comes out.

yes the same would hold true.

go with a 920 and a 275, you won't notice the difference.

then next year if you like, you can upgrade the CPU to a 6 core CPU and the GPU to the 300 line.

tho I should mention from what I understand the 6 core will not make much of difference in fsx vs a quad core.

basically what every1 is trying to tell you is that because of what ure doing an higher upgrade on your computer will make no diffrence, If u only wanna run fsx anything more is just a waste upgrade for the future or no. NOw if you were looking to do more with the computer we maybe would recommend something else 2 you, but this is not the case. its kinda like the diffrence in a billionare one makes 50 billion a year the other makes 37 billion i doubt #2 cares that the other makes 13 billion more cuz their still rich as hell. same with the computer it simply wont matter if you get the better processor, graphics card etc its still an awsome computer and will still do everything you need it 2 do and more

I will just add/clarify a bit more on top of inferno23's informative post.

for fsx or most games, there is no performance to be gained by going with a 975 or 950 or faster speed ram then 1333MHz.

This is what i suggest 2 you you obviously wanna sink some cash into your rig.
instead of sinking thousands into perfomance parts you're not gonna use ( ex the're was a Lamborghini made that could go past 300mph. since 99% of ppl dont even have a suitable space to reach such speeds its basically pointless 1,000's spent on parts you'll never use)  instead sink your money into customizing a computer to make it 1 of a kind that represents you. some ppl put their heart and souls in to making their computer the way they want it instead of having all the top performance parts( if you want pics ill send you some) for example when i order mine after a while ( im a try to wait till win 7 comes out) im gonna make some tweaks of my own like changing the LC colors and the coil and replacing all the stock fans with others creating my own color scheme and illl prob tweak it some more once i get it. i belive if ure gonna buy something expensive you might as well customize it the way you want it. i could sink the 200+ im a spend on performance id never see but i rather put it on designs for the computer ill see everyday
