Welcome to the forum Yibai !
Nice powerful Xenon workstation build... Excellent NVidia RTX 2080 Ti GPU. Case available drive slots....Lumos is an excellent & interesting case with excellent airflow and plenty of room! That said, your build includes 1X SSD and a RAID array using 3X HDD. Lumos has flat bays on the backplane for just 2x HDD + 2x SSD or 4-7 SSD. You can ask DS if they can accommodate 3X HDD in Lumos. There’s always a way. I own a Lumos my son uses and it’s a great cooling case. The slightly larger DS Velox has good airflow and has backplane bays for 3x HDD + 2 SSD, or 8 total SSD. It puts the motherboard and components upside down and the door faces the opposite right side of the case...so the GPU ends up on top. Mobo...Think I would move up to the better ASUS WS C422 PRO/SE. The VRM power section has much better heatsinking, better capacitors, and you get nice heatsinks for both M.2 drives as well. Also includes a stronger Realtek sound S1220A Codec. Drive1....Unless you have a specific need to use a 4 TB SATA III SSD for C Drive1, your board can utilize 5X faster M.2 NVME SSD that use the speedier PCIE bus. Max size for M.2 NVME SSD at present is 2 TB, but the speed gain is meaningful. There are 2 M.2 ports on the motherboard, and I believe support 2x added M.2 drives via a U.2 slot 2x M.2 port riser card. Cooling underutilized. *Use one of the stronger Corsair AIO 240mm or 280mm CPU coolers with that exotic Xenon CPU to keep it cooler and extend its load performance & lifespan. The DS parts will only carry the 1 yr parts system warranty, while the Corsair warranties are 5 yrs. *DS will use budget stock plain black unlighted fans with just a 1 yr DS warranty if you don’t upgrade the case fans. The far better and quieter Corsair LL RGB Series Upgrade or top line ML (magnetic levitation bearings) RGB Series Upgrade will both include a Corsair fan control module that will allow control & RGB synchronization with all Corsair RGB equipped components onboard and also any Corsair RGB peripherals like mouse and keyboard. You would control all via Corsairs iCUE software for endless personalization. Corsair LL fans have 16 RGB LED and carry a 2 yr warranty, ML fans have just 4 RGB LED and carry a 5 yr warranty. Case fans are important in getting max airflow through the case, to keep your component temps as low as is possible. See what you think.... |

Hi HockeyBuck,
Thanks for your reply and suggestions, it looks great and a lot of information for me, I have only limited knowledge of hardware, I will take time to study on it, very appreciated! Should I switch my system hard drive from 4T SSD Samsung EVO to 500G SSD hard drive to get faster speed? should I add one more HDD hard drive? Should I add fans to my cooling system? Sorry about I have so many questions on hardware, I am a beginner in this field. Thanks for your patience! Edited by Yibai - 22 Nov 2019 at 2:30pm |

Hi Hockeybuck,
Base on your suggestion, I made some changes, can you take a look and give me more suggestions? Thanks a lot! Nov 22, 2019 Lumos / Yibai's configuration: Specifications: Chassis Model: Digital Storm Lumos Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Xeon W-3235 (12-Core) 3.30 GHz (Up to 4.40 GHz) (64 PCI-E Lanes) (180W TDP) Motherboard: ASUS WS C422 PRO/SE (Dual 1GB LAN) (ThunderboltEX 3 Compatible) (Up to 3x PCI-E Devices)
System Memory: 128GB DDR4 2666MHz (LP ECC Registered) (4 Channel Memory) Power Supply: 850W Corsair RM850x (Fully Modular) Expansion Bay: External USB Digital Media Card Reader Optical Drive: - No Thanks Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 970 EVO) (NVM Express) (Extreme Performance)
Storage Set 2: 2x Storage (4TB Western Digital - Ultrastar Data Center Edition) Storage Set 3: 1x Storage (4TB Western Digital - Ultrastar Data Center Edition) RAID Config: RAID 5: Performance + Drive Failure Protection (Recommended) (Requires 3 Identical HDDs) RAID Card: - No Thanks Internet Access: Wireless PCI-E ASUS PCE-AC56 (Supports 802.11ac) Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB (VR Ready) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio HPC Processor: - No Thanks Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Corsair H115i PRO - 280mm Liquid CPU Cooler (Fully Sealed + No Maintenance)
HydroLux Tubing Style: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected HydroLux Fluid Color: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow) Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Digital Storm LED Lighting System Airflow Control: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stock Factory Turbo Boost Advanced Automatic Overclocking Boost Graphics Card(s): Yes, Overclock the video card(s) as much as possible with complete stability Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Professional (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: USB Drive - Windows 10 Installation (Format and Clean Install) Virus Protection: Windows Defender Antivirus (Built-in to Windows 10) Office: - No Thanks Mouse Pad: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: Digital Storm MasterKeys Lite Bundle (RGB) Keyboard & Mouse Mouse: - No Thanks Branded Gear: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty (3 Year Labor & 1 Year Part Replacement) |

Sure! I kinda assumed you must have a professional need for a workstation class rig with a Xenon processor...but if that’s not correct then do tell what you plan on doing with this build?
What I was suggesting ... Upgrade Drive1 to a 5X faster M.2 NVME SSD that plugs in right on the motherboard. Use a Samsung Evo 970 M.2 NVME SSD for Drive1. 500 gb, 1 TB or 2 TB size to choose from in Pro or faster Plus model. The 1 TB size would be a good size with room o grow for most folks use. *The 2 TB size is even better and I see that change now in your build. Check with DS Sales about Lumos and your space allotted for 3x hard drives (3.5”) you selected for your 3x HDD RAID Array. To fit those 3 hard drives you might need the larger Velox case instead. Talk to DS about it. I suspect they can make it work in LUMOS. Upgrade to a better ASUS WS C422 PRO/SE motherboard. Better cooling of the boards power VRM area, and comes with heatsinks to better cool M.2 memory. *I see that change now in your new build... Upgrade CPU Cooling to the Corsair H115i 280mm AIO cooler. Better performance and long warranty. * I also see that change in the new build... Upgrade Case Fans to better Corsair LL or ML RGB Case fans. Better performance, longer warranty, RGB lighting....and quieter. We do not recommend Overclocking the Video Card on air cooling alone. Hope that helps clarify....lol Edited by HockeyBuck - 22 Nov 2019 at 3:30pm |

Thanks for HockeyBuck!
Thanks for your time and knowledge! Most of time I am using Houdini FX + Redshift, Zbrush + Keyshot, Maya + Arnold, Vegas or Avid for editing, I am an artist, focusing on sculpture modeling and animatoin,Rendering a lot of either Hi-Resolution images or animations. I think now we are in good shape now, can I place my order with this configuration? Thanks for your professional suggestion! Cheers! Edited by Yibai - 22 Nov 2019 at 6:06pm |

Congrats on the DS Verified Customer badge! That’s going to be quite a rig. Now for the hard part...the wait...lol! We have all been there. Let us know how it all goes for you.
BTW...You should also know that earlier this year NVidia for the first time included the RTX line of video cards in adding software features for Adobe Creative product users to make full use of the Adobe color space. These features were previously limited to only users of NVidias more expensive pro Quadro line of video cards, so it’s added Adobe tools/features you will have use of with the RTX 2080 Ti. Thanks, HockeyBuck and Create!
I am still working on it, I made a mistake when I pay my new Lumos work station, I paid twice with the different credit card on the same order, calling digital storm soon to cancel one for me. Lol... I do like to try with hi-tech and new art, looking for a way to weld them in one which builds with my own artistic language. I call it Boolean Art which unioned, intersected, subtracted or shattered by arts and computers. Let's see how does look like... with my new Digital Storm Lumos! I have appreciated your suggestion and help, and having thousand questions soon... Cheers! Edited by Yibai - 25 Nov 2019 at 7:36am |

Congrats on the Verified Customer badge! DS Velox case puts the motherboard upside down, video card at the top, and the window is on the right side. Should be roomy enough...did you see that case is also available in several paint colors...white, red or blue...? Now the wait begins.... Please keep us posted on how it all goes sir! |

Lol...None of us here on the forum work for DS...
You can tell DS Sales if you wish to take any advantage of case paint colors (Red, Blue or White) for +$149... There are not many cases that are offered in colors...I believe they have plenty of the black Velox cases in stock now... |
