After all the issues you have had, I would be scared as hell to do an "upgrade" on your demonically posessed machine. I wouldn't want a single component back in a new build since you still don't know what the root of the problem is.
Maybe they will let you start over? Since you ordered your machine a bunch of newer stuff is out you will probably want - better vidcards and velociraptor drives come to mind. It is past 30 days since you ordered - but you haven't had a properly working machine anywhere along the way.
It seems to me they should be willing to just build a new config for you (with the same dollars) after all the issues you have patiently put up with and attempted to solve.

I'm no expert but those sound like OS issues, not hardware related ones. I guess stranger things have happened but still...
If I remember correctly you said recently in a post you've reformatted / reinstalled Windows using the rescue type disc, but maybe that has a problem with it. I definitely had that happen to me once. Edited by FLighT - 28 Jul 2008 at 1:46pm |

I agree it seems like OS issues, but my understanding is that DSO has had this machine back 1 or 2 times already and re-installed Vista but the problems just keep coming back.
That would lead me to suspect something is causing the OS corruption that hasn't been sorted. I am sure DSO can do a solid Vista install - so if it has failed twice (or more) already I would be surprised if another re-install will solve the issues.
Having him try yet another re-install of Vista after all he has already tried seems a bit much.

Oh....12x already....didn't realize!
I imagine you must be taking those shots of Teq then... Just bad carma going on.
Hope the cause can be pin-pointed without your rig going back into the OR for surgery.

No, he's not out for the afternoon. Alex just recognizes your phone number on his caller ID and your E-Mail address
"I still have to log in almost everywhere I go still..Even here everytime I close the page and come back, even 5 minutes later I have to log on again...
Settings?
I reinstalled Notepad++ last night..It failed right off the bat..**
This morning I went to post a pic and Windows Picture will not open a pic at all...."
Correct program codec (or whatever they call 'em), to open it?
Other than perhaps bad RAM issues I can't imagine what hardware related problems could cause the above. I would certainly like to know just for future troubleshooting of my own.
Vista 64 right? UAC & DEP off and your administrator, right? ** Edited by FLighT - 28 Jul 2008 at 4:19pm |

Harleyman, I'm sorry you've gone through so much bad stuff. You have been patient and tried hard. I hope DSO can help alleviate you of your heartache here. You deserve a solid working rig! Good luck!

Damn! I thought I'd check in, after a few months, just to read about the "happy ending" to Harleyman's trials and tribulations, and I find this! Useless as it is, you've got my heart felt sympathy.
You've got the right idea. Give a nice steak dinner and then put it "down" quick. I am truely sorry for all the time you've lost. A built from scratch replacement will work. Gotta wonder if the CPU got damaged by all that juice at first....
Good luck, man. You deserve it.
