    Posted: 08 Aug 2008 at 8:17pm
Well it has been a agonizing 2 weeks while I have waited for my new DS computer...but the wait was well worth it!

I ordered the new computer on 28 July, and it was shipped on 4 Aug. I was very impressed with this. I received a new email every day telling me the different stages my computer was going through.

When I received the computer, there was not a single dent/scratch on it. Kudos to DS for using FedEx shipping! Much better than UPS imo. I could not believe how big the box was. (I bet the FedEx guy was mad having to move it around LOL). It was extremely well packaged and everything was in its place. Not a single component was out of place.

I was on my lunch break when the computer arrived, and I only had about 20minutes to open the box and pull it out and look at it before I had to go back to work. I was absolutely amazed at how beautiful it looked. I opened her up and the wires were all tucked away nice and neat. I could really tell that the technician took their time installing everything. I probably just stared at it for a good 5 minutes (then I realized how dumb I must look.)

I must say, after reading all the review's and talking to people, I am 100% satisfied. I'm so glad I chose DSO. You guys have a customer for life!

I hooked it up and it fired right up flawlessly. I was greeted with the Window's Vista login screen, and it even had my name! I will definately recommend you guys to all my friends that are looking at building a new computer! Anyways, enough of me rambling, its time to install some games and put this thing to the test. Here are some pics for your enjoyment!

DSO was able to OC the Processor to 3.2! Very nice. Just ran 3DMark06 and got a score of just a little over 16K.

In all honesty I can not see how anyone can complain about Stage 3 cooling. They must have some VERY sensitive ears. It sounds like a quite humming sound to me. I love it.

My old computer was definately louder than this.

Very nice Sneakerz. Could you please post pics of the PC operating in the dark? I want to see how the red Internal Lighting looks.

I am trying to decide whether I should go with blue or red for my PC.

Sure I will post some pics tonight when it gets dark so you can see what the lights look like.

Just remember with the 850i case there is the front intake cooler and has a blue L.E.D. I kinda like it, look's red/blue....some people may not like it.

The Silver thing over the memory is the memory cooler. Its the newest version I believe...

The cpu hsf is (I believe) OCZ's vindicator and the memory fanset is also by OCZ. I've read that the memory fans have a blue led theme too. As for sensitive ears, some people are indeed less tolerant of background noises. I'm one of those unfortunate souls. Fan noise can distract me to the point of aggravation and inability to concentrate. Even when I had my case fans running slowly enough that the cpu hsf was nearly the loudest sound, the accumulated noise was very distracting. Now, add in the pci slot exhaust blower I have and the 4850 vid card fan... well, it's still quieter than my older pc, but it's quite distracting. Then again, I find the digital artifacts coming from my onboard sound to be annoying enough that I rarely use headphones and when I do, they're relatively inexpensive versions where the highs are a bit attenuated. ($70 sony earplug phones). At least I don't hear the fans as much! LOL!

P.S. From the looks of those last 2 photos, I think you need to lay off the caffeine a bit... Tongue

You are correct about the memory fans haveing a blue led to them. I'll see if I can't get a pic of it on the inside when its fired up.

P.S. I need caffeine to function properly....I drink atleast one energy drink a day at work lol!Wacko

If it isn't for a floppy, it's probably for a non-litescribe DVD ROM. This is one of the reasons you'll see me repeatedly suggest the Litescribe drive- not so much for the etching capability, but to be certain the drive will be SATA.

My Lightscribe drive is IDE...

ordered back in May or so...

So it is not a guarantee though they said the same thing in the forums then, which was why I picked it.

Actually......I do not have a Floppy Drive and I do have a Lightscribe....so not really sure LOL. And when i opened it the first time I noticed it  just hanging there, not sure if it was zip tied down and transportation knocked it loose or not. I just stuffed it in the corner didn't know what else to do with it.

Check out spec's on the first page and you will see that it is the Lightscribe edition..
