Its 3 days early too boot.
So far a suprise right off the bat. I had ordered the HAF 932 case but it showed up built in the 950si. It will probably not make much difference in the long run for my usage.
Everything seemed to be in order other than the case. The only problem I found on first inspection was that the cooler for the RAM had come dislodged during shipping I suppose. I took my best guess at how to re-seat it.
I will try to get some pictures in order and a more thorough review in a bit.

The case swapping deal is surprising.
Maybe you ended up with somebody else's computer. :P |

I would have thought that, but everything else is just as ordered.

Jennings, shoot me an e-mail with your order number. That is extremely unusual that you received the wrong case. I will get it taken care of for you though!

I would keep the case! that's 175 bucks over the HAF for free, and its much prettier to boot.

With the wiring mess I saw on another computer the other day, it is wierd to see 2 issues so close to each other. But as always, Digital Storm will do the right thing by you and you will end up happy and satisfied with your new beast.

Onkel_Ken,
I agree with you on that aspect. But I do want to add that, within the past month, our volume of how many systems we ship a day has doubled.
The special deals were taking quite a hit on our production. Everyone was trying to get systems out as quickly as possible.
However, we had a company wide meeting about ensuring that we take our time to ensure everything is done properly and throughly. We just recently hired additional team members to resolve this situation.
What was once a slight issue, has been now addressed and learned from. I hope this clears it up.

I have everything up an running now but I have a question about the OC. When my system finished Stage 7 I received an e-mail stating that the OC was 3.5 on my 920. When I use the CPUZ application that came installed my CPU only shows up a little higher than the 2.66 stock speed (2.7xx). Is there something that I should activate or a setting to apply to get the OC?

Unfortunately I am not very computer savvy. What should I put it under load with and for how long?

you have speed step which sets the CPU speed low when not under heavy use (under load) but once there is high demand from it, it will go back up, so play some games or do some CPU intensive stuff and see what CPU-z says during those tasks

I am assuming the case is not painted. The black finish is only on the outside and looks to be stock treatment on the brushed metal finish. |

I have everything set up and have been testing the computer for a few days now. I must say that I am impressed. It has handled everything that I have thrown at it with flying colors and just continues to sit there and purr like a kitten. What I Ordered:

Idle: 40C
Overnight Load: 79C Overclocked Processor Settings Processor Speed GHz: 3.5 CPU Multiplier: 20 Voltage CPU VCore: 1.375 VDroop Control: Yes i7 - BCLK MHz: 167 In my previous posts I mentioned that the computer came built in the 950si case instead of the HAF 932. A happy mistake and DSO were more than willing to correct it if I so desired. I did have to apply the OC in the BIOS from a saved profile after I used it for a couple days. I will say that after I did that, the performance skyrocketed. It came in one piece with all the inclusions. I only had to re-seat the RAM cooler when I removed the foam (and give the Fed-Ex guy a dirty look when he slung the box onto the ground at my front door).
In the past few days I have seen some posts from other people like me who came DSO's way after thinking about going with some other (cheaper) custom builders. To them I want to say "Stick with DSO. There is no reason to risk headache and heartache by going somewhere else. Let DSO build your dream machine. You will not regret that you did." Edited by Jennings386 - 05 Jul 2009 at 5:24pm |

I am enjoying it. It is leaps and bounds above my old Dell P4 2.33 and 7800 GT setup. Even my wife says she likes the performance. She was also very pleased with the case "upgrade" after seeing what it would have been (HAF 932). I guess I'm lucky I never really got her approval before ordering or she may have just nixed the whole idea.
I've made a few improvements, even in the first few weeks. I added two more UV lights to make the glow more uniform. And another case fan for the top vent and some AeroSlots for the empty expansion slots. My only issue now is that I do not have another screwless fan housing to go between the HDD slots. I can't find where I can order one either. Silverstone does not have that part listed for order as an accessory.
Very satisfied overall and highly recommended. I have tried to take more and better pictures so that I can show everyone just how impressive it is, but my camera skills have failed me to this point. Edited by Jennings386 - 21 Jul 2009 at 4:40pm |
