    Posted: 02 Feb 2016 at 12:52pm
Hello,

My budget is $3,000 tops, but a little less if possible. I will be using the computer for playing The Golf Club on Steam and also to drive a pretty resource-intensive Bible software program with 28 GB of data. Like most, I want this computer to last a few years.

I selected my build based off of the Apollo line, but I needed a case that fit my desk tray and none of the cases DS had would fit (unless I went for a Bolt). So, DS said if I found a case I liked they could see if they could custom order it. I decided on the Corsair 350D.

How's this build look? Any suggestions? Or, should I consider a Bolt instead?

Thanks for your time.

Hi wmadan... Welcome to the forums.

Looks like a nice setup to me. You nailed it.    Not sure your monitor resolution, maybe the gtx970 will do, but the 980ti is tops and great for future gaming. For 1080p, the 970 plays most games on highest settings.

I would keep the 350d but you might pay a little extra for special order. The Bolt is a nice design but the 350d does give you more expansion possibility and easier to work on.

Good luck and stay in touch.

Hi wmadan,

Your build looks good. The one concern I have is the desk tray you are planning on putting your computer in. If this is a closed compartment you may have temperature problems. You need to have a fresh air flow into your case and exhaust air out. If you trap the exhaust air in a compartment you could have problems. Just having the front of the case open may not be enough.

If your case is going to be open with good airflow then you will have a nice system.

Frank

Frank, thank you. The desk tray is completely open, so there won't be any ventilation issues. It's just that the size of the tray is such that the case can't be more than about 18" deep. That's why I had to request the Corsair 350D.

Thank you, bpratt22. Actually, the quote I was given for the custom Apollo build will come in cheaper than a comparable Bolt, and some things will be better.
