First time post FTW!
Just ordered this demon spawn. I call it a spawn because I'm on a budget of $3,000.
Let me know what you guys think.

The X-FI has issues with Vista. I would go to a Razer sound card, or just drop the sound card altogether.

Didn't know that. I'll call them and see if I can make those changes. Thanks for the heads up. So besides the sound card issue... everything else seems good? |

Yep. The rest is fine. I probably would have done something like this with the same budget http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=185524Edited by Tyler Lowe - 22 Sep 2008 at 12:47pm |

You might have to call them again..
1. Match your CPUs FSB w/ ram - 1333 MHZ + switch to OCZ ram (more reliable than Corsair)
2. Downgrade - but its really an (big) upgrade - to CM HAF case + change to red lights
3. For hard drive 1 go w/ a fast 300 gig Vraptor if money allows, you want a fast HD for your OS/apps/etc
4. Go w/ one CD/DVD drive - lightscribe edition
5. If you want to OC your CPU, invest in Liquid Cooling ( a must for good/stable OC ), but WindTunnel will suffice
6. Drop Crysis, buy it cheaper somewhere else
7. Invest in 4 year warranty (a must w/ OC'd systems)
8. Stay away from Creatives sound cards - Razer/Asus Xonar are more reliable
9. Downgrade to Vista Home Premium 64 bits
... any of the above would net you better performance/stability in the long run + peace of mind w/ 4 year warranty . Edited by Nomak - 22 Sep 2008 at 1:11pm |

that's my same system except I got the 300GB Velociraptor and Razor sound card and 4-year warranty but put me just over $3300
Maybe I will get my system tomorrow, seems to take a long time to ship (from the 17th to the 23rd estimate delivery that's 7 days if you count pick-up and delivery days).
Tyler Lowe has a great build as usual, he went with the liquid cool while I opted for stage 3 with Velicoraptor.
It may be late to change your order but if not may consider TL's build you can add a sound card later if you want. Edited by rai-zero - 22 Sep 2008 at 1:28pm |

Well I was gonna make a setup for but first I looked at the one TL has made, and I have no changes to add to his.
I think the setup TL has for you is great. The only thing I would change in TL's setup is to change your am from corsair to ocz, corsair has been crapping out. so here is TL's setup with the ram change: here you go Ticket# 185797 --- Price: $2934 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis: Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Power Supply: 1000W Corsair HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz (1333MHz FSB) (12MB Cache) Motherboard: nVidia 790i Ultra Core 2 Quad (nForce 790i Ultra SLI) (DDR3 Only) System Memory: 4GB DDR3 1333MHz OCZ Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive 1: 320GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Hard Drive 2: 500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Raid Option: - No Thanks Hard Drive 3: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) (LightScribe Edition) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Wireless Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 896MB (Includes PhysX Technology) TV Tuner: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: Liquid Chilled FrostBite CPU Only Internal Lighting: Blizzard Internal Lighting (Red Edition) (Cold Cathode Tubes) Modifications: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Yes, Overclock the processor as much as possible with complete stability Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: Yes, Overclock memory timings (Includes Memory Fan Kit Installed) Tweak Windows: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) (For Enthusiasts) Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks my keyboard comes with a mouse External Storage: - No Thanks Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty I like to recommend to you to go with a 4 year warranty. |

I didnt do a 1:1 with the CPU and RAM.
780i doesnt support DDR3, so the highest im getting is 1066.
a 790i and 1333 RAM will push me over $3,000.

ok looks good man, you gonna love that for a long while.
once thing, ask them to oc your ram, that will get you the ram fan which is great, and it will help your cpu oc better, however first go with ocz ram instead of corsair, that will save you ten so this: here you go Ticket# 186008 --- Price: $3201 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis: Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Power Supply: 1000W Corsair HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz (1333MHz FSB) (12MB Cache) Motherboard: nVidia 790i Ultra Core 2 Quad (nForce 790i Ultra SLI) (DDR3 Only) System Memory: 4GB DDR3 1333MHz OCZ Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive 1: 300GB Western Digital VelociRaptor (10K RPM) (16MB Cache) (Extreme Speed) Hard Drive 2: 500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Raid Option: - No Thanks Hard Drive 3: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Wireless Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 896MB (Includes PhysX Technology) TV Tuner: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: Liquid Chilled FrostBite CPU Only Internal Lighting: Blizzard Internal Lighting (Red Edition) (Cold Cathode Tubes) Modifications: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Yes, Overclock the processor as much as possible with complete stability Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: Yes, Overclock memory timings (Includes Memory Fan Kit Installed) Tweak Windows: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) (For Enthusiasts) Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks my keyboard comes with a mouse External Storage: - No Thanks Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty now this takes you to 3201, if you don't want to do that, that is ok, but then do this, when ordering ask them for the fan for the ram, which should be like $20 |

Smokin build. I agree with DST. Get the OCZ RAM instead of the Corsair. Corasir may have a better name (arguably), but OCZ really has been the more relieable of the two recently.
