Hi,this is my config. I'm new to overclocking and motherboards and that internet option. I have a budget around 2500 - 2600. Please tell me which is better choice? Asus Vs Nvidia and 9800 gtx vs 260 gtx, plus what the internet Access option is... Also, should I choose to overclock or not to save my self the hassel of the problems that could pop up?

First, welcome to the forums. I hope you find the information you are looking for here. Smile

In order to give proper advice, people will need to know the intended use for this machine. If you could include information such as the size of the monitor you will be using, how often you tend to upgrade or replace a computer, and what sorts of programs you plan on running, this would all be very helpful.

Just in general looking at this it looks like a pretty sweet but not bleeding edge system. This would run a game like Age of Conan with out too many troubles at middle resolutions with pretty much all the important bells and whistles (Medium resolution being anything 20-22" or smaller in the LCD field pretty much)

There are probably more cost effective ways to get this graphics horsepower as right now as you will see in many configs intel boards and ATI graphics seem to be getting more popular due to overall lower cost and equal or better graphical performance right now.

Welcome Dark, as Tyler said it would help to know what your intended use is, but as for the moment.

Asus vs Nvidia... most go with a personal choice, both are good boards, some feel that intel boards overclock better than Nvidia. If in the future you plan to SLI or Crossfire your video cards you need to choose a MOBO that accepts your card choice which seems to be Nvidia.

9800 gtx vs 260 GTX... 260 gtx is a better card, better scores, but alot depends again on your intended use. As Dave said alot of people are going with ATI cards at the moment because they are the best price vs performance card out... look into a radeon HD 4850 if ATI is an option for you.

Internet access... do you plant to network through a router? if not stick with the choice you have selected in the configuration above.

Overclocking... you will find many opinions about this. Personally as DS warrantees thier factory overclock I feel you should take advantage of the performance boost.

Good start
Asus Rampage Formula
Core 2 Quad Q9550
2 ATI Radeon HD4870 Crossfire
4GB Corsair DHX 1066
1000W Corsair HX

I would be using an 19in Moniter, the programs I mainly run would be itunes, internet, Word, and games like starcraft, Warcraft and Fps. I'm also concerned about the noise level, would it be as loud as a fan or an engine running for stage 3 cooling and the Graphics card 260 Gtx?Big%20smile

That should be a 1280x1024 resolution, assuming you are using an LCD. If this is true, I would either build in an HD4870 for less money, or go the next step up and select a GTX280. There's very little performance difference at 1280x1024 between a 9800GTX, HD4850, or the GTX260. You will not see any benefit from a multi GPU setup at that resolution either, so I would look to get the most powerful single card solution my budget would allow.

If you plan on a monitor size upgrade to 22"+, I would plan for multi GPU at some point down the road as well.

I would overclock the CPU, certainly.

Discuss the noise level of stage 3 cooling with DSO when you call. Some people find it quite loud, others feel it is fairly quiet. Generally, the GPU fan is going to be the loudest fan in your system and will tend to make the case fans seem quiet by comparison.

If it were me, I would do the Intel based motherboard, the HD4870, and a Q9300 or Q9450, and overclock to get the most performance for the dollar. If you want to be able to fit in the Razer keyboard and mouse in the build, things get a little tighter budget wise, but even so, most of these things can be done without going over budget:
