Love the comments by both sides at the end of the article.

But it is true that you really can't beat the price component by component....
or am I wrong?

I am still rooting for the ODE 0 or 1 but this is...."some competitiion"

[EDIT by ALEX - I removed the link and company as we're a business after all and cannot be hosting other competitors on our forums]

@darbebo,

There will always be cheaper systems people can buy. Our ODE line is very competitive compared to our other systems. We could offer a system that's so aggressively priced that its cheaper than buying the parts, but, we wouldn't do that because that would mean we would have to cut corners in testing, assembly, QA, support, etc...

For the value, peace of mind, and quality of a Digital Storm ODE system, the performance and price definitely is a win-win for our customers.

Hi darbebo,

Computer companies that try to build their business plan on making the least expensive computers just don't make it for very long. HP is a good example. They have more sales than anyone but their profit margin is so small that they are leaving the business. Any of the computer companies who survive with low cost computers, that I have ever seen, have little or no customer service. Getting a problem means working with technicians from India or other overseas location. They trouble shoot by reading off of a script and if that doesn't solve the problem you are in trouble. With DS you get a technician that works at the plant and is an American. If he can't fix your problem he has access to someone who can.

Thankfully DS does not try to sell the lowest cost computer on the market. They try to sell the lowest cost computer that supports their business plan. That includes testing of their systems before shipment and support after delivery. This all cost money and individual component cost is only a small part of their pricing.

Right now DS is at a sweet spot of providing great computers with quality components and excellent after purchase service for a fair price. No one else is doing that better than DS.

Frank
