OK a few things:
Amd CPU because Intel will be releasing a new socket in november AM2+ will be around MUCH longer Dont want to buy a new MoBo and EXPENSIVE INTEL in 1-2 years want to Upgrade till dead AMD all the way for that
Only one 3870x2 will buy a second when drivers mature and price drops 100$
PHysX card because Nvidia bought them I have 8 games that support it and well if the 8800 will be getting the ageia sofware then possibly in the future with Intel having Havok now this physics will be going mainstream faster then we think....FUTURE PROFING and it fits my $3000 budget wife aproved....

It looks like you're pretty settled on the exact composition of this system, so I will decline comment on build itself, but I will suggest that you check with DSO and make sure that the power supply you have selected is equiped with 2x PCI-e 6+2pin +12V power rails. The HD3870x2 can function on 2x PCI-e 6 pin +12V rails, but it works best when a 6pin and 8 pin power connection combination is used.

Well if thats the case then the thermaltake 1000w would be it but they sell 2 versions Only if DS uses the Thermaltake Toughpower W0156RU ATX12V / EPS12V 1200W Power Supply 100 on there 1200 w selection would I go for it if not then I will stick with the 850 one cause Unless I KNOW there is no reason for me to spend that cash right now Upgrade latter with a Part from newegg.  The 850 will be enough with Adaptors as well to make some 2pin. Hence why I did the 850

In order to see more then about 2.8 Gig of that 8 Gig of RAM you have included in your specs you will need to get 64Bit Vista Home Premium.  The 32 Bit version can only address 4 Gig of total address space and this includes things like your 1 GB Video card and other hardware, not just the RAM.
850W PSU/Pro Case
Q6600-G0 2.7GHz
nVidia 680i A1 Revision
4GB 800MHz XMS2
1x500 GB WD, 2x500GB WD RAID-1
2x500GB Ext
nVidia GeForce 8800GTX 768MB
ATI TV Wonder 650
Air Cooled Stage 3

I would suggest throwing in a $90 upgrade to an Xfi audio card - the quality difference is significant on all fronts: music, gaming, movies.

Just my 2c.  :-)

Thats easy I rip out my X-Fi fatality from my present rig problem solved...Well sort of I dont use it but when the wife is out shopping.  I use my Gamming headset USB with build in SRS (simmulated realistic suround) Audio  by plantronics and they work really well surprisingly and only 58$.  But ya sound is not an issue.
