    Posted: 10 Mar 2009 at 9:31pm
My computer was shipped today. Cool! They sent me my overclock results and I'm a little bummed (they are below). My overclock seems to be at the bottom of the typical results 3.31. I am aware that some CPU's don't OC as well as others and am also aware that DS makes no promises but I was hoping for a little more as I read that it is typical to get 3.6+ easy on air. It's not like 300mhz is the end of the world but it is 300mhz and I think most of us are into maxing stuff out. OuchAt these temps etc. should I consider trying to push it or should I just let it be? I am an experienced user but have never personally overcloked a CPU so if I was to do it I would call DS and have them guide me. I don't want to be dealing with blue screens etc... just curious if DS was being conservative with stopping it here. Censored

I can understand the disappointment when you hear of others with similar machines getting higher overclocks.

But to put it in perspective, if you had spent $900 more for the i7 965 3.2 GHz without overclocking, for a cost savings you beat that standard.  Yea, my english is failing me tonight for some reason.  But really, 3.31GHz is nothing to sneeze at!

you could probably push it higher, no point tho without beter cooling
some chips overclock better , you got an average overclock, still good

you are still faster then a stock 965

upgrade to a 975 in a year or two if you like, you will get a higher OC from them and the price will be great too

If you really want a higher overclock, call us and we can do our best to help. It shouldn't be a problem, but honestly, from 3.3GHz to 3.6GHz... there really isn't any noticeable improvement in gaming, etc...

Thanks Alex... you guys are top notch. I will call if I want to do that but will probably just run it as is. I think I was just being greedy... happens sometimes.

different CPUs will run on different voltage, temps etc, so you can compare to each-other
