They are grate portable laptops. They won't run the latest and greatest games at maximum settings, however, if you tone down the visuals, they will be perfectly fine.

A great choice for the budget.

Alex

For gaming in my opinion go with the biggest screen, 15.4 inch is WAY to small for me 17 inch is awesome. Glossy however is awesome but it reflecs light on your screen so unless you playing in a shadow room, you won't like it.

Dunno your budget but always for me in a laptop I think the CPU is important since its under the heat so much and etc... so get the 2.66GHz and upgrade video card to 1GB instead of 512MB or SLI it even better lol. Thats about it.

Hmm, might upgrade later to something like that, I was on a budget right now though, this was about all I could afford. But then again I'll probably be mostly playing Neverwinter Nights on it anyway, lol

Also, my current desktop is a AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+, 1GB DDR 400MHz, and a Radeon X800 XL 256MB... so its a step up for sure, lol

Ya for that game its fine but later for upgrades you cant upgrade screen so upgrade screen now...

Ill list upgrades you need in order of importance first

1. Screen to 17 inch
2. CPU to 2.66
3. 9800 512MB to 1GB
4. Memory Card MHZ upgrade

also if you want get more HDD, I LOVE LOVE LOVE 2 HDDs in laptops but actually for laptops I use 2HDDS with 1st HD for OS and Programs and 2nd HDD for games... and then external HDD for music/videos/etc....

Honestly, going with a 17" is great but, you will need a much more powerful laptop to compensate for the resolution jump.

That would result in a big jump in your budget for a main stream portable gaming laptop.

Alex

Gotta remember how different things work with laptops. When you buy the main system, you're left with fewer options to make a solid performer. I'd stick with advice from DSO on laptops. I'm sure they've thought these things through. BTW, I think that's a good solid build for your budget, since you're at your limit.
