Currently in the beginning phase of choosing my first real gaming PC (took a long gaming break), would you recommend a build such as this? Looks like the cost was around $2k.
Mostly to play Baldur's gate 3, Cyberpunk, etc. . But nothing overly complicated or streaming. |

All depends what monitor you want to drive with your rig. PCKiller is going for high performance at 4K. I highly recommend 1440p (2K) for great graphics at reasonable prices. If you want framerates at 80-120 fps on most games, you can come in a lot lower than his price. Let us know.

Thanks for the insight!
So here's the setup I just ordered yesterday: o Processor - Intel Core i7-12700F (4.9 GHz Turbo) (20-Thread) (12-Core) 3.6 GHz (Alder Lake) o System Memory - 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Digital Storm Performance Series o Storage Set 1 - 1x SSD M.2 (1TB Samsung 990 PRO) (NVM Express) o Graphics Card - 1x GeForce RTX 4070 12GB (VR Ready) o Power Supply - 750W Digital Storm Performance Series (80 Plus Gold) o Extreme Cooling - AIR: Stage 2: Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black (Extreme Performance) o Microsoft Windows 11 Home At this point I am leaning towards the Dell 34 Curved Gaming Monitor – S3422DWG that a friend had recommended. Does that sound like a good match? Edited by Skold27 - 13 Jan 2024 at 9:03am |

Currently I have dual 27" monitors. From my work days I found dual monitors to be useful as I would be cutting and pasting from one document to another. I still find two monitors to be quite useful although not so much for gaming. The monitor you are considering is a very good one. I am considering 2 Dell UltraSharp 27 4K USB-C Hub Monitor - U2723QE. I'm not familiar with the 34-inch Dell monitor, but I'm a HUGE fan of curved ultrawide monitors. I've had a couple of 34-inchers, and a couple of 38-inchers. They are great for gaming and productivity work. Once you get used to that size you'll never go back!

I just bought a 65 inch tv to replace my 42 inch in my bedroom. I wonder if that 42 inch would make a good PC Gaming monitor? |

Some TVs work well as monitors, but many don't. One of the most common issues is that the screen brightness changes based on what is displayed. I would just give it a try, and see how you like it. |

I would like to see you step up to the 14600KF as your CPU. It is not that much stronger than the one you ordered, (8%) but it is two generations newer, is superior by that amount, and has 14 hybrid modern cores and 20 threads compared to 12 cores and 20 threads. it also turbos to 5.3 GHz vs 4.9GHz. In computer parts newer is almost certainly better, and this is 3 years ahead of the CPU you ordered. It's also $27 cheaper.
I also think you should invest in the 850W power supply. The DS branded one is just fine. In future, you will be far less likely to be hamstrung by a PSU that is almost good enough, but not. Every thing else looks like it will do what you want it to. DS is very welcoming to your changes especially at this stage. They want you to have the best computer you can afford. And so do I. ![]() |

That CPU is what I ordered on my build, and I wanted the 850 watt PSU. Cannot wait till I get it. Going to have to make a new sig when she gets here.

I ordered my system on the same day you ordered your system and I am still at Stage 2, so don't feel too bad. I figured it might take a little longer as some of my components might not be in stock, but like you I am impatient. Fortunately, I have a system that still functions well that I plan to give to my son.
Maybe I should give Alex a jingle. |

Well, I am not upset. Just posting how the system works, so others know what to expect when they order their DS PCs. I figured it would go beyond the 15 business days. My last one took longer too. As it had a large water loop in it with 2 Rads.

IIRC, the Friday ship status was only for palleted orders such as Aventums and other high-weight, overly fragile items that needed to be strapped down and handled differently.
I believe they had an everyday FedEx/UPS pickup... ![]() |

This goes along with my comment that the stages reported by DS don't always jive with what is actually happening.
Anyway, congratulations on the progress with your order. I ordered mine on the same day you ordered yours and mine was reported to be at Stage 3 last Friday. I guess I should order my new monitors 2 Dell UltraSharp 27 4K USB-C Hub Monitor - U2723QE. Amazon has a good price on them. |

Well, I just checked my stats, and as of 1;57 am on 02/06/2024. There was no tracking number. So I will not be getting it today as I paid for next day air. unless DS forgot to tell me the number in the last email. that works for me, as I had plans for today anyway.
