Well, I decided (after stalking the forums and DS website for over a year) to take the plunge and get a Vanquish II Level 4. I was a tad disheartened about the processor no longer being a "K", and the loss of the closed-loop Corsair liquid cooling, but overall the system still looks like excellent bang-for-your-buck, and far superior than the gaming laptop I've been using for 4 years.
I do have a question about the SSD, as I am a new SSD owner. I know the OS will be installed on the SSD, but... what else am I supposed to put on it? Also, how would you guys compare the specs and performance of the current Level 4 model to older configurations, namely the last gen Level 4 with the red lights, liquid cooling, and K processor? Thanks so much. :D |

Oh, and also, what GPU does DS usually use? EVGA/Gigabyte/ASUS, etc?

Ah. I don't know anything about PNY really. I have heard that the GPU brand can change depending on stock, but since our buy dates are so close together I think that might be a good indicator of what I'll end up with. How're you liking the Lvl4 so far? |

Congrats on your new machine!!
The SSD would be used to hold your most used software to speed up load times on them. The 128GB minus the OS should allow you to install 2-3 games (depending on their size). Like already said, the GPU manufacturer will vary depending what they have on hand. They only use major brands and each card is tested (along with all the other hardware) so you should have little to be concerned about. Performance wise, last generation L4 Vanquish vs current L4 Vanquish are nearly the same. Both still use a quad-core CPU and 770 GPU. The small difference in CPU clock speed won't be noticed by majority of gamers (especially in this price bracket). Happy Gaming!! |
