I don't know if this is a good thing or not but...
my system was ordered yesterday afternoon.
today I get an update it's in stage 5 already and will ship in a couple of days.
I guess they are not exactly swamped with odrers.
Only problem is my old computer is back and running fairly well since you guys helped me out with Malware and CC clean etc. it's still not great but actually I am content with it for surfing te net etc. I really got this new computer for games (Bioshock etc.) so it was something I was going to get sooner or later. I just ordered it sooner since my old computer was crapping out. I got Bioshck and Orange Box for x-mass past but I was waiting for a computer that would do them justice.
Needless to say I have a ton of back games needing to be played like SupCom etc. Here is my new PC specs and it should fly over my old 6+ year PC

I have the same feelings.
I could have put together the same system on my own minus the water cooling for $1,000.00 less. EDIT: I chose Digital Storm because I didnt want to spend the time to build my own, I work too many hours and my free time is valuable to me. Edited by RickinVa - 13 Sep 2008 at 11:07am |

I don't mind the cost. No way I'd build my own PC so it comes down to DS providing a service for a fee. They have to pay for a building and this web site, ads and make a profit as well.
Also they stand behind their PCs with 3 or 4 year warranty and lifetime support. That's worth a good price to me. I for one never mind paying for quality stuff. If anyone wants to build a PC on their own obviously can save some money. I don't build PCs, I don't build Pools, I don't repair my roof, I don't cut my grass (etc.). I don't think it takes so long for DS to build a system from parts I was just surprised they got to my order so quickly, maybe the new PC computer market is slow at this time. I like to see how he would build that same exact PC for a 1000 less, first off the liquid cooling is gonna be a couple of hundred so we are talking more like 700 if you don't want to count the liquid cooling.
we have done these comparisons before and every-time we have done it, the difference is a more like $200

$1,766.00If I left out something, let me know Prices are from a Comp store right up the road from me and Newegg. Again, that doesnt take into account water cooling or labor for putting all that stuff together. You can always build your own system cheaper.... but there's no warranty and you get the pleasure of putting all that crap together. Nor do you have the advantage of customer service, your customer service is limited to cussing and your geek friends I do not have the time, nor the inclination to do so anymore.I did a lot of research, and Digital Storm was the one I chose based on the wide selection of options and the amount of positive customer feedback. Now, if I just had my new DS system in my grubby little paws, life would be better........... ![]() Edited by RickinVa - 14 Sep 2008 at 11:30am |

You also can have them OC the system for you completely under warranty. Thats one of the huge things from them as well, go to other places and see if they will overclock everything for you

The point is most people are not building their own computer. Its nice of DS to provide the service and more power to them, they need to make a profit won't you say? Everyone has to eat.
However I am not opposed to saving a buck. I was able to buy the same Samsung monitor at Circuit City for $230 less than DS price (after rebate).

OK first why are you linking the stuff to your PC?
we can't look in your PC. so first show me what site and where you found those prices. now lets correct your setup, you said the same build no "like build" so: Chassis: Digital Storm 850Si = $180 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Power Supply: 1000W Corsair HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) = $220 Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz (1333MHz FSB) (12MB Cache) = $350 Motherboard: NVIDIA 780i Core 2 Quad (Chipset: nForce 780i SLI) = $240 System Memory: 4GB DDR2 OCZ at 1066MHz (SLI-Ready Edition)= $150 Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive 1: 300GB Western Digital VelociRaptor (10K RPM) (16MB Cache) (Extreme Speed) =$240 Hard Drive 2: 500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) =$92 Raid Option: - No Thanks Hard Drive 3: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) (LightScribe Edition) =$45 Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Wireless Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) =$20 Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 896MB =$250 TV Tuner: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: Air Cooled Stage 3 WindTunnel (Copper Heatpipe Heatsink & Additional Case Fans) Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Modifications: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Yes, Overclock the processor as much as possible with complete stability Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Tweak Windows: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) (For Enthusiasts) =$179 Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: Razer Lycosa Gaming Keyboard Mouse: Razer DeathAdder Gaming Mouse (High-Speed Gaming Grade) External Storage: - No Thanks Warranty: 4 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty (Highly Recommended) now that not everything but it adds upto: $1966 thats the price without building it, cables, all the fans, heatsink and the 4 year warranty. the 4 year warranty you can't even provide, the best you can get is a one year. calculate the warranty and the rest of the stuff and the difference is only a couple of hundred
we always tell you to buy monitors and other things like that other places Edited by DST4ME - 14 Sep 2008 at 2:05pm |
