guys please help me with this. i am planning to build a gaming laptop. my budget is below 4000. any comments/suggestions are accepted.

Really only thing you need to change is Windows 7 to Professional, and i would suggest getting the i7 920 chip and overclock it to 3.3GHz (or 3.2GHz can't remember what the first OC is) instead of paying more for the i7 960

My opinion the best gaming laptops are from Alienware (MY opinion)
however DS does has some nice ones as well

As far as I know, there aren't a whole lot of options you can change in the gaming laptops.  I don't think DS actually assembles them.  That said, if you just go with the most expensive one and drop some stuff in there that you are interested in, it will be good to go!

Someone will probably come by and take a look at it, but you will probably get a similar response.

I don't believe that overclocking is offered on laptops. 

I would avoid AW like the plague after my experiences with them. 

@OP this notebooks looks fine, it should run most games at max as long as you keep AA and AF levels low.

thanks fearnot but i don't have any plan to OC my laptop that's why im taking this i7 960. im considering an alienware but my worries is that some people are having problems with their customer support.

I just had to register when I saw this thread.

I would NOT go with alien ware.. not even close to bang for buck.
 
If you want to go with the laptop version of Digital Storm pcs go to www.xoticpc.com 
 
With you're budget you can get any of their laptops,, dual gfx if you want..

Alienware has nice lights and design and facial stuff but they are the most overpriced company I've seen for computers. Like the D&G of all computers except their gaming capabilities aren't that great.

I will agree that Alienware is not the best known company for customer service, or for their cons, but they do have the best laptop out there hands down currently.

People that purchase from them mostly have bad experiences, i would not reccomend them, how ever i stand by my statement when i say they have the best gaming laptop.

Lol yeah but they do have cool features DS should get. Like the facial recognition and fingerprint scanners.

Um, I'd advise pumping up the processor. Laptops are normally suicidal zones for overclocking, the constricted airflow being the problem. Therefore, usually the safest way of obtaining a faster processor is really just to get a better one. But that's only my opinion.

Okay so I just quickly compared the AW MX17 to xoticpc's Sager NP8760(which I just ordered from a EU retailer).
 
They (both) have the following specs:

do the math.. and dont start talking about no customer care, no testing etc.

Alien Dell is not the best....arghhHH!!!
