So...my Digital Storm machine was scheduled for delivery by FedEx on Thursday (1/26/12). It got moved up to Wednesday (today, 1/25/12). I was happy. It was the only good thing I had going for me today. I'm sick, with allergies. I had to give blood this morning to check my kidney function (I hate needles...). So I was hoping to be done with the blood draw this morning and to whisk home and shortly after FedEx would be delivering my computer...
 
I get an exception notice from FedEx. Some how...they have managed to damage either the packaing or the product or both and the package has to be shipped back to the sender.
 
So I ordered on 12/31/11. It's almost been a month (because of the Sandy Bridge-E shortages debacle) and now It will be more waiting :(
 
I just thought I would share my nightmare today. I don't know how difficult it is to take a box off a truck (I saw somewhere else on the forum that one dude had a UPS guy drop kick his computer off the back of the truck).
 
But I have a lot of rage right now, directed at FedEx.

I like lots others pray to the Shipping Gods whenever a package is in transit.  Most go well, mine was zero problems but others have had problems. 
 
On the positive side....if you can call it that....at least it was sent back to DS right away.. Some have had shipping damage not so obvious and spend days and weeks trying to figure out why their new rig is faulting out.

I would think they know,  but just to play it safe, email them with info....or call.

On second thought, DS might not know until box shows on their loading platform, all messed up. 
 
Not sure, so get in touch with them.

Like Alex said they'll have to inspect the box but I know when I got my rig the tape on the box was junk. It had all fallen off and the only thing holding the box closed was the metal straps. The tape was just hanging off the side where there was no weight being put on it by the system

It was not as if someone had peeled the tape off it was just that the tape was bad and not sticky at all. I've never had a good experience with companies that use that brown paper packing tape. It's nice in that it's obvious if it's been open but it's never sticky enough.

ahhhh man, thats terrible to hear... I know it is hard to wait so long but at least DS will take care of it for you... wait till you see how massive the package actually is when you get it... If I didnt know it was a computer, I would have thought it was a 25,000 BTU air conditioner... literally

The FedEx employee who delivered mine did not believe me that it was a computer. I got a good laugh out of that. Luckily my box was in very good condition.

atuarre, sorry to hear about that. To put a little bit of a positive spin on the situation, as mentioned, at least they didn't just dump the damaged computer on your doorstep. Then you'd have to play phone-tag with DS and arrange pickup to send it back and so on and so forth. Definitely frustrating, I've had stuff get obliterated during delivery as well, but DS will come through for ya! Awesome

In my area I call them fedcrap, they are awfull, not that ups is any better here.

That sucks, that is the first time I have seen such a thing here.

Digital Storm should receive the package sometime tomorrow. I checked the status and its sitting on a truck waiting to be delivered. Hopefully, FedEx will deliver it first thing in the morning but I won't count on that.

I spoke to someone in their customer service this morning and I have some concerns. The customer service just wasn't very reassuring so I shot an e-mail to [email protected] and maybe I can get my questions answered or concerns eased.

What concerned you about your chat with customer service? Like, what do you mean when you say they were not very reassuring?

Just as an update, we received the system, the box appeared to have been mishandled, but, thanks to our innovative packaging, the system was perfectly fine. Our team reinspected the system and we shipped it back out today.
