It came with a lot of packing; there were two foam inserts in the machine itself, and a foam structure at the top. The machine itself had no scratches or visible signs of wear and tear from the shipping ride. It took me a good hour or so to fit the monitor on its stand. Actually, it took me about a minute when I realized I was putting it in backwards . Anyway, setup was a breeze. I appreciated the box of accessories included with the order; I have never had a customized computer before (so I'm not sure if it's standard or just specific to DS), but it is nice to have all these extras. I had a compatibility issue between my keyboard and my motherboard; Randy was as helpful as he could be in solving the problem, although it turns out there was nothing he could do about it. Of course the system is able to run all of my games on maximum graphics; I haven't bought a game in years, and so my games aren't much of a load on the system. The system is quite quiet (although I don't see why I need all the fans on constantly), although the noise level doesn't really affect me anyway. The case looks very nice, especially with its blue front grilles and side window. I read a review of it that said it looked like it was made for the military; I think one of its strong points is the fortress-like robustness that it displays.
I was first attracted to Digital Storm because I was looking around the internet for places that would customize computers, and Digital Storm's website was clean, easy to navigate, and very clear in the information it presented. Beyond the appearance, as I looked further, Digital Storm easily had the best selection of components, and around the same prices. The final straw was the reputation for strong Customer Service and Technical Support (a reputation which Digital Storm certainly lived up to).
I don't consider it to be a problem, but my parents are very annoyed by the fact that they have to unplug the keyboard every time they turn the computer on. The red LED fan on the front of the case looks bad with green lighting behind it, but that is my fault for not doing my proper homework on the case. The biggest dislike that i have of it is this: when playing Forces of Corruption with maximum graphics, the system begins to lagg when there are only about 30 Star Destroyers (with their full fighter complements) on screen. This is a huge jump from my old system, but it's not as high as I expected. Maybe my expectations were too high.
That sums up the negative side of the system though. Overall, I am very pleased with my machine, and I would definitely buy from Digital Storm again.
sorry i don't have pictures, but i don't have a digital camera.
by the way, what's the name of the review site thing? DS told me i was supposed to post a review on consumersavings.com or somesite like that. what was the name of the site? i'll be posting this review on it.

Nice review and great temps.
I suspect as you obtain more recent games, your fan speed will increase to handle the additional load.
Run CPU-Z to get your clock speed, please! Edited by Kryhavoc - 20 Feb 2009 at 2:48pm |

as far as "under load" goes, i would think 10116464640 Mhz is fairly unbeatable.
...and here's the real under load thing.

Sneakerz don't rain on other's parade, he has no choice over how his chip OCes, and he has dual loop, and he has 3 GPUs, his system's temp is going to be higher then a person with one GPU
I'm sure he has room to push if he wanted to |

I'm not trying to "rain" on others parade, just expected more than a .1 MHZ in an OC. And even with the dual loop, doesn't DS incorporate more pumps and two resevoirs to compensate for the additonal heat?

O_o are you saying that the extreme version is supposed to baseline over 3.2 MHz? i haven't yet begun to overclock it. Edited by yungerkid - 24 Feb 2009 at 11:29pm |

@ Yungerkid,
I think you have room to push that processor. Let us know how things work out.

The system he ordered has two pumps and reservoirs. The processor and video cards have separate cooling lines.
I just checked the QA report when it shipped, and we shipped it clocked at 4.05GHz.
Either the software isn't reporting it right because it's not under proper stress when he checked, or, the BIOS may have been reset (which can happen if the CMOS reset button is pressed accidentally since it is right next to the rear I/O plate where the user plugs the keyboard, mouse, etc...)
Anyways, just give us a call, our techs can check for you, and walk you through the process.
Cheers,

then it sounds like the bios got reset one way or another, unless his cpu-z was not under load.

oh yes, i certainly do have a lot of room to push the processor from 3.2, if that is the case. i'm not very experienced with overclocking, but that sounds like a lot.

Thanks for clearing that up Alex, that makes much more sense.
I figured there had to be something wrong.
I would definitely call DS and have them walk you through it, it's actually quite simple. After all, you paid for it, you should enjoy that extra boost in CPU power =). Nice OC btw

i did call them. talked with Sarah. she walked me through it. i am now getting max 3.6, baseline 1.7 (which is higher than it used to be). which brings me to a question. if i overclock the maximum speed, is the baseline (idle) speed supposed to go up by the same amount?

if you have speed step then the cpu will rest at a low clock till you need it at full speed then it go to full speed.
put it under load and see |

yes, i know that, but it is resting at a higher clock now that it is overclocked, than it was when it was not.
