Thats the worse part about sending it off, along with the wait to get it back, is reloading all your games and stuff back on it.  Heck, I have yet to load half my games back on.

I will tell you, its the best thing I ever did is RMA it.  It works so amazing now I can not believe it! And, I have been hammering Crysis and CoD4 all weekend!

I acutally loaded FRAPS up last night just to see how I am doing in Crysis.

I play it at 1024 x 768, all settings at 'High', objects settings at 'Very High' and I am getting constant 40 FPS and the lowest it ever drops is 29 FPS in very big battles with lots going on.

Heck, thats amazing!  This rig is amazing!

Dude, are you kidding me?  You didn't know the recovery disk / image disk would kill all your stuff?  Confused

Sorry.  I shouldn't make fun of you.  But, I did the same with mine.  Before I RMA'ed my rig, I ran both those disks thinking it may cure all its ills.  Lost all my saved games for Crysis, CoD4 and Steam.  What an IDIOT I felt like.

  1. Nice to hear that you finally got your machine back and it works.
  2. Strange about the dual monitor problem. What is your video config like again? It would be a kick in the pants if this turned out to be the source of all you original problems. Perhaps DSO should ask customers if they're going to use two monitors and test the machine accordingly...
  3. Rescue Disk: Harly, have you been out tripping widows and orphans again? Seems like your karma needs some rehab. I'm a little surprised that it took out the D drive, or was D: just a partition on the same physical hard drive as C:? The good news is those four year old downloads needed to be updated anyway. The passwords are going to be the tough part. I've done this to myself, in a differnet and creative way, not too long ago. It was a drag. (sorry to be so cheerful) If you had a Steam account, good luck. Not to rub it in, but for everybody else reading this; if you don't have backups, your data is just an accident waiting to happen. When are people going to learn?

Take heart. Steam was the only password I had trouble recovering. They were no help at all. I eventually guessed it after an evening of trial and error. All other companies coughed up my passwords with a minimum of hassle.

your computer will not boot correctly with 2 monitors hooked up unless it is set to do so
it has nothing to do with vista, you need to boot on one, pop the nVidia control panel and plug in/power up the 2nd monitor, it should auto detect or theres an option to, from there you can decide how to format your 2 monitors

and yea.. about the data..
i cant think of what to tell you

Mason, Its not a Vista thing, its an SLI thing. SLI can only output to one monitor. And of course, SLI was enabled. And I'm sorry to hear that you lost all your data on your D: (second physical disk) drive. Hell, I myself didn't know that it would wiped it out too, I figured it only dealt with the primary hdd. Sorry about that bud.

And um, when i heard your voice msgs today [prior], I was like [fist shaking in air] "MAAAAAASOON!! NOOOO!!!"
