Let's start with some back story shall we? I work from home and have now for around 9 years. I also am an avid gamer. My current PC is about 5.5 years old and sadly on it's last legs. It is a custom build that I had someone out of houston do for me. I am a hothead and dare not tempt the cable management gods. Imagine my surprise to see that DS now offers financing! I was sooooo happy. I had enough for a decent pc but needed around 700 for financing (which is now down to only 450 or so.) Since I moved away from the houston area, and have been watching ds for years decided to go this route. Stage 1 04/15/2020 I chose lynx custom configuration 2997776. I went with the lynx to save on the case and because tbh I'm tired of lugging a monster of a case around when emergencies happen (took the current beast to dallas for 18 days during hurricane harvey so that i could continue to work, and also trucked it in my vehicle when we moved out of state after harvey.) Stage 2 04/30/2020 Stage 3 04/30/2020 By 05/13/2020 I decide that I do not like the fact that the mb does not support sli so decide to change it, along with changing to a firecuda ssd. Config id: 3088057. Should not have been a problem except for the fact that the person that took my order neglected to tell me that this motherboard was out of stock. After not seeing any movement I decide to call them on 05/27/2020 to get no answers. I call back 05/28/2020 to find out that the mb is back ordered and will not be in for another 3 weeks. To which I respond with that I know my psu is going out in my current pc which I need for work and we could have avoided the whole issue if they had just told me that something was not in stock. I could have then made an appropriate decision to switch back to the original config and carry on. Their solution to this issue was to upgrade my config id 3138302 on 05/28/2020. I send an e-mail for a status update on 06/03/2020 with NO response back. I call them on 06/05/2020 wondering what is going on with no answers, and again on 06/08/2020 with no answers. By the time I call them again on 06/09/2020 I am livid. Come to find out, the new mb for the new processor that they offered to upgrade me to is not in and here we go back in the same spot as before. Again these ppl could have told me that they did not have the motherboard so that I could make a good decision that worked well for me....and still they did not. I do not remember who I talked to that day; however, they did finally give me the option to revert to the original configuration and be refunded the difference. Well, at this point I have already waited and he is guaranteeing that my order will be shipped by 06/18/2020. I wait till 06/16/2020 and call and ask immediately for a sup as there has been no movement and it is supposed to be shipped by the 18th. She tells me the order is planning to ship but will ship in 7 to 10 business days. Yeah that's not happening so I tell her she needs to upgrade the shipping and remove the rgb ram (not necessary and less clock speed than my original ram so idc). She then transfers me to Keith who tells me that the order will ship by 06/18/2020 and that he will call me to let me know first thing in the morning. 06/17/2020 I wait until 2pm their time and call and ask to speak with Keith. He tells me that the build is on track and that he upgraded shipping without downgrading ram and that they would ship it 3 days and I would have it by Monday 06/22/2020. Tells me that he will call me 06/18/2020 to let me know what's going on. 06/18/2020 comes and I again wait till 2pm with no call. So I call because let's face it, they have already demonstrated that clearly this is not going to go the way that it should and it is up to me to do my due diligence. He tells me that it is in qa and still on track to arrive 06/22/2020 and that he will check in with me first thing 06/19/2020. 06/19/2020 I wait until 12pm their time and call because clearly no one can return calls or e-mails here. It's now in packaging and scheduled to ship today first in line at the loading dock ready to go out. Stage 7 5:10pm their time and will sit there all weekend and not be delivered until 06/24/2020. Again these ppl cannot follow through with what they are saying because their processes are BROKEN. This is completely unacceptable. I have been met with nothing but lies and BS from these ppl and I am not happy. I should have bought a prebuilt and just swapped a few parts out. This was not worth the hassle and seriously I should cancel. I'm sooooo ticked right now because I have been out of work ALL week because my current PC bsod while I am working because of the issues I've already listed. I now have to tell my boss that I have to be out more days because this company clearly cannot keep it's word even tho I specifically told them what was going on. It's complete BS and there are no excuses for the lack of competency at this place. My suggestions: implement an inventory management/control system that shows users out of stock parts to let them know in real time if they are going to have to wait longer than anticipated. Do not just build PC's......use them. Accountability????? Where is it at and why do you not have functional processes???? I will not be another customer of Digital storm. I had such high hopes from drooling over them for 10+ years only to be let down at every turn. I would have been a continuing customer as I need 2 more pc's and know business that are looking for good quality builds. I'm now going to go walk around and decide whether or not I want to deal with this company or get a refund. Edited by Spincycle - 19 Jun 2020 at 6:34pm |
