An hour or two ago I noticed a thread with a very unhappy customer voicing his opinion on the service s/he received, and now this thread has vanished without a trace!
Now I know a thread like that may seem a little caustic, and possibly make some people a little leery about purchasing... But deleting the thread seems very shady, since I would hope that DS is in favor of fair and balanced reviews (although I'm not naive enough to actually believe any company would be). After reviewing the forums for a while before purchasing, I thought the lack of angry customers was due to very high quality service: But this has left a bad taste in my mouth. *shrug* What can ya do? /tinfoilhat |

I saw it also... there was nothing offensive in it at all... just an unhappy customer voicing his/her experience. Oh well!

People like me check this forum constantly every day as I am trying to learn a lot about computers.. them deleting threads about unhappy customers does not happen often... well thats the first time i've seen it in a few months.
I would guess for one of two reasons, they talked to the guy who made the thread or the thread was not legit.
I'm curious what someone else has to say...

I have no idea exactly why it was deleted, but I do know that that person started talking cancellation and dissatisfaction with DSO as early as September 07. Since I don't know the circumstances, it'd be inappropriate to comment further, but I do find it highly unusual that any post like this would be deleted.
There are not many posts by dissatisfied customers, but they have always been answered by one of the Digital Storm staff. Some have been , locked after it was shown discussion of the issue was not going to be productive regardless of concession offered by DSO, but never before has a thread simply vanished without being addressed. I hope this is not a trend. Seeing customer complaints addressed rather than tucked under the rug and ignored was what convinced me to shop here.

no I did post a unhappy experience and I see DS doesn't have the guts to keep it up.
And no they didn't make anything better with me.
I still will never buy here again

Actually, sorry for the lack of reply to this thread. We are finishing up in moving to our new offices. Our admin removed guest posting in the General Discussion because our filters kept going off from a spam bot of some sort. It must of deleted his original post since it was posted using a Guest account.
We don't believe in deleting threads by customers that have something to say because there are always two sides to every story and we strive to take care of all of our customers. Ghost, if you can read this, please feel free to post a new thread and we can talk about your situation.
I will pass a message to the admin to see if we can get the thread back. Edited by Alex - 02 Jan 2008 at 5:49pm |

I never thought for a minute that there was any ill intent here. It was odd that it was missing and obviously could have looked like that there was some hidden motive, but I knew DS wasn't this way.
Good job Alex. |

Alex is probably right there is no point on discussing my post, it would only bring DS down from all there happy customers postings. All I wanted to due was voice how I was treated as fairly as I could. It wont make the problem any better.
As for my comp working now --- YES it works with games now. Is it what I ordered --- NO.
DS is full of excuses as Alex's reply shows.
Hope everyone else has better dealings with DS.

I just want to say....When are the T-Shirts Coming Out?!?!?!?!?! It is impossible to please everyone, and even 99.99% effectiveness has a .01% flaw. With 100,000 folks thats still 1000 flaws, and I believe that DS is better than that.
Extremely impressed with not only aCi11i3s' Trojan Horse...aka my DS Machine, but also with the personal attention that DS gives its customers. The only thing missing right now is more DS souvenirs (T-shirts, Desktop Wallpaper, Screensavers, Stickers...etc)
happy fragg'n...

Yeah same here. DS's customer service was one of the main reasons why I bought my comp from here so I don't know what's up with Ghost. |

Ghost :: The only thing I can think of to say to this is... if you've had this account of yours registered since September - why make the comments using the Guest account? Forums are often easily (and automatically) abused, so seeing "Anonymous" posts being deleted by some script is almost expected... you could have made the thread using your own account and avoided it - and many people here seem willing to accept you (and want you) to re-create the post so we can see it all and have the negative alongside the good. Deflecting the offers and taking a pot-shot at DS doesn't really do much to help your case... Take the time, re-post it.. we'll all be better in the long run for it, I imagine. --Akkim |

Sorry if I offended you. But your dealing must have been better than mine. I have heard a lot of excuses from DS, and haven't gotten the best results.
If anyone is interested I'll repost later today.
As for posting as a guest, I had old comp on automatic sign in and I messed up and just typed in my screen name when posting and didn't sign in.

Yes Alex you will be hearing from me again soon. I was just calming down a bit before I contacted you again.
But you already assured me before my comp left you facility that everything was taken care of. And it obviously wasn't to me.

Yes Ghost, I would be interested in seeing the entire story, from the beginning, and allowing Alex to respond to a complete accounting of events from your perspective. I know that would be a bit of work for you, but it would allow people to see where you're coming from, and would be more fair when it comes to people forming opinions both from your point of view, and from DSO's point of view, than vague references to a bad experience.
Simply saying DSO is full of empty promises, without providing some sort of background for that type of statement, isn't fair. It's not going to benefit anyone looking at this company to see if this is the business they want to make a purchase from, and it doesn't allow DSO to address your situation, nor provide the sort of motivation to improve that a public outing of errors does.
Again, I understand it's a bit of work, and I also know from past experience on this forum that the customer responses may be shaded just a tad toward the hostile when it comes to any criticism leveled at DSO, but again, IMO, it would be of benefit to everyone. I agree with you Tyler. It becomes very difficult to offer an example to others, and see it that way, when you're caught in the emotion of the moment and feel like you're not being heard properly.
The importance of sharing your complete experience in this public forum as accurately as possible, from start to finish, is so that others can see how a process works with a company that "desires" to be the best and help people. "Desires" is the key word in this. You can fail to meet the needs and still "desire" to want to meet the need. Desiring to meet needs is based in part in character and comes from a servant perspective. Serving others is based in selflessness and that, my friend, is what needs to be seen publicly. We need to know that this company can make mistakes, yet can rise to a level of selflessness and serve properly. We need to know that this company has not arrived, and hopefully will never arrive, to the point of perfection so we can know that they are always striving for perfection. The day a company thinks they've arrived is the day they will begin to break down within their core and come apart. I believe that deep inside us all is the ability to see the greater things beyond self. When we are able to get passed who we think we are, then we can see more of the goal and less of us. It is simply about removing more of me and seeing more of you. This applies to the company that strives to serve better, and it applies to the customer that is frustrated on the other side of the hedgerow. When we both can see the greater things, then we can see the things that transcend the business and witness the growth personally within each other. |

Whenever I am searching for reviews of a company and their products, I go right for the "Dissatisfied" reviews first. I like to see how old they are to see if it is a recent development in quality or if it happened a year ago and there hasn't been a bad review since. I also like to know other people's experiences with the customer support and technical support staff so that I can be prepared in case they try to pull a fast one on me or just dismiss a complaint.
I worked the Gateway Tech Support desk for two years and have seen lots of stuff. As the saying goes "Is hard to bull**** a bull****er". lol So I am very interested in what happened since I am currently waiting for my own system to be built.
