Budget ~ $3500
Usage: Gaming and some multi-threaded apps like Deep Fritz..
Monitor Resolution is 1920x1080 27"

I bought my current DS system ~May 2010 and began to notice some lag when trying to play Prototype 2 and decided it was time to upgrade.
I have a few questions.

1. Will the new 22nm chips run cooler than a 930?
2. How much slower will the 780 GPU be compared to the Titan?

I know from reading  a lot of config posts that I'll get a recommendation to use the on-board sound instead of getting a card. The reason I added a sound card this time is because I had problems getting on-board surround sound to work with my older DS computer. Using the normal analog cables, I only got 2 channels to work, but strangely enough surround sound started to work when I used an optical cable.  Bottom line is I hate to be trying to get things to work.. The sound thing really pissed me off, but everything else pertaining to my DS purchase was superb.

With the single GPU you only need a 750W PSU like the EVGA NOVA. Also, with the open design of the HAF-X, the noise suppression is useless and the large fans are already quiet. Take this extra money and get the 780ti SC. The Titan is only better in multi-monitor situations with it's extra VRAM (6 vs 3). Also, the Sabertooth motherboard has an audio optical out already so you can still use your current setup so the audio card is your call (or if you already have one, perhaps repurpose it here)...

The 780 Ti is a GK110 that is fully enabled. The 780 and Titan both have units disabled. The Titan has more memory than either. Here is a through review of the 780 Ti: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7492/the-geforce-gtx-780-ti-review

Hi Alci...  That's an excellent build. Strong   Take the advice above and you'll be getting the most for your money, and a dynamite rig.   Big%20Smile
Just one more suggestion, for $19 more go with the 1TB HDD, Western Digital,  Caviar Black.  A better unit .

Also, the Platinum DHX memory sticks  with their  high heat spreaders might not fit under the Noctua D14.   DS will let you know for sure.  The standard lower profile sticks are just fine for less money.

Good Luck. Big%20Smile
