Looking for a great gaming headset to go along with my new Soundblaster champion soundcard.  I was looking at this one: G35 Surround Sound Headset but wanted to hear opinions on this board about potentially better options.  Thanks for your help in advance.

Try the Sennheiser HD555. Some describe it as the the low end of the high end audiophile headphones. Amazon has them - but their a bit pricy - seen 'em for less elsewhere. Anyway, wearing these has made my games (and music) a new experience. I'd avoid the Razer or Steeltek so-called "gaming" headsets and what not.

I recommend the Sennheiser PC 350.  http://www.sennheiserusa.com/private_headsets_pc_pro-gaming_skype-voip_502141

I bought mine at Best Buy for around $200, but I couldn't be happier.  Very sturdy construction.  The sound quality is topnotch (as best as I can tell with 50% hearing loss).  The cord is long enough to reach around behind computer (unlike previous headphone I was using) without limiting my mobility.  The earpieces are circumaural (which means around the ear) and are extremely comfortable.  I can detect no outside noise at all when I am wearing these.

Get yourself a 5.1 channel surround-sound set. I'm not talking 'emulated' surround sound either:

3 Drivers + a sub in each ear.

Thanks guys,   I think I am going to with the Sennheiser PC 350, Amazon has a pretty good deal going right now, around 40 percent off...plus I hear the surround headset mentioned above, do not work well with Xifi sound cards which is what I will have with the Champion series Xifi card.  I have seen great reviews with my sound card paired with the Sennheiser PC 350, as the Xifi positioning is just as good as the surrond setups but with better overall sound quality and better bass.

+1 on 350's

I've used them for the past couple months and they work great.

Should have realized you would want a mic for a gaming set.Big%20smile

Any opinions on how the 350's are for stuff besides games like music & movies?

BTW, in case anybody's interested, I've found this flexible adaptor (see link) to be a must have - didn't like the way that heavy adaptor (the one that comes with the phones) & cord hanging was hanging precariously off the tiny 1/8 plug on the back of my computer:

The 350's are perfectly fine for music and movies, I've listened to CD's and CD qualify recorded MP3's plus watched movies and stuff off Hulu with them and pretty much made them my default headphones.

I like the material the cups are made of on thier audiophile phones better, the stuff on the 350's is like fake leather, it's not that it's uncomfortable, it's just not as comfortable as the cushy cloth stuff that's on my sennheiser 580's.

For headphones with a mic for gaming, I looked, there's nothing better available..
