Please excuse me in advance for posting this thread twice, but I'm not sure which section is proper, heh.

I was planning on doing a 1090t build with the Asus Crosshair IV formula motherboard, but I've been reading about overheating issues on their northbridge I.E. idle temps around 60 degrees. Has DS been running into any of these bad boards? and if so are you swapping them out in the stress test phase for ones that run at intended temps? This is my main worry about the entire build pretty much, because I did want to go with an 890 board.

What cooler is used exactly in the Air phase 1 upgrade? I was considering the H20 phase 2 with the Asetec 120mm setup, but not sure if dealing with that hassle would be worth it.

Are the latest drivers used for motherboards, and videocards or is this something I have to do when it arrives to me?

Thanks for any help in advance guys, and I look forward to being a new DS customer!

If your choice is between stage 1 and stage 2.  I would definately go stage 1 with the noctua.  The latest drivers at the time of installing your boards and such should be used, then you will have to update if something new came out afterwards.  As for your first question I have no idea.

Thanks for the info but the problem with that is I don't have the option of getting the stage 1 noctua since it says only compatable with i7, and I'm getting an AMD hex core. I really wish DS offered more options with cooling, and motherboards on AMD builds. Everything else looks great except in these 2 areas.

I do ask again though...What cooler is used specifically with the stage 1 air upgrade for an AMD build?

I can't help out on the AMD setup, I have not had one for a long time, not since Intel took away the crown from AMD...I could care less which one as far as brands go, I just want the one with more power. lol  an Intel 920, or if out of stock an 930 would be a lot better choice for you, power wise, and price wise.
If you are hung up on a AMD build for other reasons, then I understand, but power to price wise Intel wins, potential power Intel wins.
The noctua cooler does fit the AMD boards, so you might have to just call them to get it

if I did go with a 930 build which of the motherboards that DS has in their configurator would be pretty good? I'm trying to keep this machine at around $2200 with a 5870 gpu. I'm not interested in crossfire at the moment, but when the ATI 6 series comes out I figured I might grab one ont he cheap. I'm not dead set on a hex core build I guess, but I was pretty firm on not wanting a hot nVidia card.

Any of the EVGA motherboards have been proven to be great boards.. the FTW model is new, so don't know anything about its reliability, but hard to go wrong with any of them.
