Topic: Need a new system <$4101 Posted: 14 Jan 2011 at 5:27pm |
Budget:
4100 dollars is absolute maximum for build itself Expectations: Killer system? Usage: gaming for the most part, a little bit of photoshop and stuff. Special Needs: none My monitor size is 24 inches (1920x1200) However i cannot come up with good build, and now that sb is out it confuses me even more. So can someone give me an example of system which will be able to do what i wrote above? Many thanks in advance. P.S. Sorry for bad english. |

Well if you LC (liquid cooling) then you have to go to stage 3, asetek and corsair coolers are not that great and give around the same performance as air coolers like Noctua.
the hdd setup you want is like this: HDD1 = fast small drive: os/apps/games HDD2 = regular large drive: media/personal/work file storage now if you want to save money and not get the ssd or if you think 80GB of space for HDD one is enough then go ahead and either drop the ssd or go with the 80GB one. Keep in mind you can always add a ssd later, its real easy. cooling won't matter too much here, for the cpu I gave you a great cooler and the gpus will cool themselves, so LC is a matter of preference. For your res you won't need tri sli, best way to future proof is to get only what you need now and then in the future if you need more gpu power, then you take the money you would have over spend on a gpu now and use it toward the future gpu that will be much more powerful, kinda like the 275 of last year or so vs the 570 of today.

I really don't see cooling being an issue for you, the haf has great airflow, the Noctua NH-U12P will do a great job of cooling your cpu, and the gpus will be fine with their own fans and the haf fans.
