If your are going to post a decent NEC monitor, at least post a decent one.  Smile

And this is still average 24" at best.. if you want a really good monitor you are looking at a lot more $$

NEC MultiSync LCD2490WUXi-BK-SV 24-inch Widescreen Black Flat Panel LCD Monitor

$1,389.99 If you've got the money

Samsung SyncMaster 245T 24'
for around $679

Dell UltraSharp 2408WF

$599 but you can save $100 so $449

Hardly. NEC uses H-IPS tech with A-TW filter. It widley considered the best of the best among photographers and other professionals Yes, you can pay more. Doesn't mean you're getting better. Take Eizo.. they charge tons more but use PVA panels. However, I would purchase through BH Photo Video or Amazon as Newegg has terrible return policy on monitors.

To the OP, among standard consumer grade 24" TNs, I would look at LG monitors. This one is great if you like glossy: http://www.amazon.com/LG-W2453V-PF-24-Inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B0025TSHMC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1248539997&sr=8-1 If you're a gamer you'd prob love it. If you're doing this for photography or other serious type graphics work, you don't want glossy. In that case I would look into a Dell 2209wa, which is 22" but e-ips and untouchable in its price range. Easily worth three times its cost. The HP LP2475w previously mentioned is also an awesome ips, but needs to be calibrated. It's among the worst before calibration but above average once calibrated.
The BenQ you found is an average TN.
