I am going to buy a laptop from DS. My mind is all set, except I don't need it right now. It's for college actually. I do gaming a lot. So I have 2 laptops configured.
Digital Storm x17 Laptop (Model: 8170) 17.3 Inch (16:9) (Resolution: 1920 x 1080) (Glossy Surface) LED-Backlit Display Intel Core i7 2630QM (2.0 GHz Turbo Mode to 2.9Ghz) (Quad Core) (6MB Cache) Stock CPU and GPU Thermal Compound 8GB DDR3 1333MHz 500GB 7200RPM (SATA 3Gb/s) Intel Ultimate-N 6300 Wireless LAN Module [+$35] NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 1.5GB PRICE:$1,498 Digital Storm xm15 Laptop (Model: 5165) 15.6 Inch (16:9) (Resolution: 1920 x 1080) (Glossy Surface) LED-Backlit Display Intel Core i7 2630QM Premium IC Diamond CPU and GPU Thermal Compound (Reduces Thermal & Laptop Noise) 6GB DDR3 1333MHz 500GB 7200RPM (SATA 3Gb/s) Intel Ultimate-N 6300 Wireless LAN Module NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 2GB with NVIDIA Optimus Technology PRICE:$1,121 I want a laptop that will do decent on games, I prolly wont run on 1920x1080 since my eyes cant take it on a 22inch monitor already. So a bit lower resolution gaming is no problem. I want a laptop that will last for at least 5-7 years. My old laptop, a sony lasted 8 yrs and unfortunately I bought a Dell Xps 7100 with Radeon 5870 before I found this site. So next year, I'm going to college and I want a good laptop towards gaming because most laptops can handle normal stuff. I'm thinking of buying on either Thanksgiving or Christmas time. The reason for this is because the prices might go down or there are free upgrades or larger discounts. My budget is really $1200 -the same cost for my dell xps desktop(with everything included) Edited by sugjavier - 27 Jul 2011 at 10:36pm |

I was still wondering HOW X15 cost more than x17 lol. I guess its to get customers to buy the bigger stuff/better.
Anyways,I have 1 more question about the following statements 1. Life-time access to our expert customer support team for all kinds of computer issues. No doubt. 2. Three years of labor free warranty service including labor costs for part replacements, tune ups, and diagnostics. Does this mean only the labor is free, or do I have to pay for lets say a bad memory? 3. One year of defective part replacement service. Is the shipping back and forth covered or do I have to pay for it? Lets say after 2 years, I can't take the gpu's speed. Will you be able to upgrade it-I'll pay for the gpu ONLY, but its free labor right? |

I'm not to sure about the warranty questions, but the x17 is more than the x15 you posted?
Also how far are you traveling for college? I'm going to be going to college Fall 2012 and I'm pretty set on buying a net book for surfing/word/power point/etc. and buying an ODE (level 0 or 1), since they're your best value for performance anywhere since they're the only pre-built by DS. All of that would be over your budget but do you have a monitor? Because you would have the best gaming performance on a desktop by far, the ODE lvl 0 has a oc'd 2500k and a gtx 560. It's $1200, but you hafta add shipping, but you would on your laptops too. That'd destroy both of your laptop rigs, and you could upgrade yourself in the future (only you couldn't go SLI) without shipping. I know I typed a mouthful, I hoped this helped though. I'm sure somebody who can answer the rest of your questions will respond very soon! |

no I meant the x15 lvl 1 cost more than x17 lvl 1. not customized at all.
Then when I tried to customized, i ended up like 1500+ on the x15 Also, I have a 22inch monitor that is full hd widescreen so i can hook it up anytime I want. I want a laptop because as I mentioned above, I already have a good desktop I know its $35 on ground shipping/crate. That's why again, as I said above, I'm waiting to buy on either Thanksgiving or Christmas. Maybe DS will have some deals that obv lowers the price :D |
