Hey all, I'm not confident with building my own PC so I thought I would give dogitalstorm a try. I don't necessarily have a budget but would like to keep this under 2k if possible. My monitor is 1440 x 2560 144 hz but I don't really have to run anything at ultra settings. Most online games I run low settings to get better fps, with this new build I would like to be able to run 200 fps reliably. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated thanks

For your budget, the Vanquish level 4 with RTX 2070 graphics is your best bang for your buck. Can’t guarantee 200 FPS on that monitor with all games, but you don’t need that frame rate for excellent gaming.
If we built you a stronger custom Lumos for example with stronger video card, etc, the cost would be $2500-3000, Vanquish lvl 4 is a nice rig. Hope this helps. |

Do you have any recommendations for the other stuff like Intel vs that other one or overclocking and all that? Sorry I'm kinda ignorant with all this stuff 😁

Also wanted to add that the monitor I got was mainly for the 144 hz if the PC can only handle 1080 that is fine with me as long as it gets consistent high fps as I mainly play shooters and don't like frame drops. Thanks for your help also

Intel and AMD both have good CPU's, with the Intel better at overclocking. But, you don't need to overclock with today's processors being so fast out of the box. Your budget doesn't give you a lot of options, but you don't need more than the Vanquish for your stated needs. The RTX 2070 can handle 1440p for sure, just that some games won't give you the 200fps, but not really needed. |

The Vanqish computers are at least partially pre-built with specific parts, so there are no options available. That said, Intel is still the leader for gaming, just not by as much as before last year. The RTX 2070 is the price/performance sweet spot for 1440p gaming. Right now, it will play almost everything on Ultra with great frames. I say almost because there is inevitably some game from somewhere that is poorly coded for optimal video performance. Like bprat22 says, frame rates may vary, and if that's paramount, you may dial back a setting or two to achieve it, but not much.
To get the performance you want at $1800 is golden. Edited by Cretae - 03 Jan 2019 at 6:52am |
