Was looking at the logitech G9 gaming mouse and G15 keyboard. Can anyone else let me know of some good ideas...ideally, I would like a longer cord then normal to fit in my desk.

I have a logitech G15 and I love it. The programmable keys are really nice and easy to set up. There are some games like ARMA where you give commands to your AI teammates with a series of keystrokes and I set up macros with the programmable keys so I can do it with one key press. It's a good keyboard with good features.

For the mouse, it depends on you you hold it - I've heard that the G9 is best suited for folks who like to hold a mouse with their fingertips for nible response times in FPS (though I don't personally have a G9). For comparison, the shape of the G7 cordless mouse is better suited to folks who like to rest their palm on the mouse - I've had good luck with my G7 (no perceptable lag, etc.)

I wouldn't get cordless at all for gaming. I have a G5 and love it. It is a high DPI laser with extra buttons that you can program. It also comes with internal weights that you can change out depending on how heavy you want to mouse to be. The G5 feels really good in my hand. Also have a G15 keyboard and that is awesome too.

for keyboards I really like Saitek, all of my systems now run them. My favorite is this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823175006

Mouse pad makes a big difference to me. lol here is my favorite, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826995033
I have a few other steelseries and like them all.
I have a razer destructor pad, that is ok at best. lol
You can buy usb extention cables if you need a longer cable. Edited by justin.kerr - 26 Jun 2009 at 8:09pm |

I have a Razer Keyboard and a Logitech G5 mouse, I tried wireless but they are not as good when you are gaming. The keyboard has a long cord. If you want to purchase one of these look at Amazon or somewhere else to get a cheaper price.
http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-keyboards/ Razer also has mice, tried one but could not get used to it. http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/ Also I really like their gaming surfaces, know matter what mouse I have I will always have one of these. The one I have is the eXact mat, each side has a different surface, speed and precision. http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mousing-surfaces/ Edited by e06028 - 26 Jun 2009 at 8:11pm |

Thanks, I decided to stick with my earlier config for my office/main gaming computer...I just got the Razar mamba as a wireless gaming mouse for my home theater config that my wife will use...will try that later this afternoon.

Razer is overrated.
People like them because all of their lights, and fancy colors. Logitech is the best. Logitch G5 mouse is awesome, different sensitivity buttons, buttons are all perfectly placed for my hand, love the forward, and back buttons useable by your thumb. G15 is an amazing keyboard as well with all the different modes you can select, and program the keys easily. |

If someone likes the Razer mice, it does not mean they like the colors... It is all personal preference, me. I would not buy anything from logitech, all of there products are truly crap in my opinion, but I am sure some would disagree. lol
