Hi everyone, I purchased" Nero 9 download" and allmost right from the start I had problems. When it was downloading it kept saying "the windows installer has quit working" and I would click on fix it and it did this a bunch of times til I finally got it downloaded. Then it wouldnt work right so I tried the power dvd that came with my computer and now it does'nt work. I tried uninstalling them but it wont let me uninstall either one of them. I tried system restore and it didnt work or I did'nt use it right. But how do I uninstall these programs or how do I fix this because now I cant watch blue rays.

Ok finally got nero uninstalled. Then the powerDVD that came with my system quit working so I uninstalled it. I reinstalled it and now it still will not play a blue ray movie.

Also, make sure that your codecs (if any) are not interfering with BR playback.

Windows installer dieing is never a good thing.  Could be an OS issue, or could be a RAM issue.
 
Run memtest86 to rule out RAM, and make sure OS is updated.

its not that at all, it was his codecs and if he is using the same codecs he will have more problems, Nero and powerdvd don't have the best codecs.

Thought I had it fixed because it showed the title screen but when I tried to watch a movie nothing happens and when I try to shut down the cyberlink program it says program not responding. It does not say there are any errors or anything. So I still need help. Is there a better program I can buy to watch blu ray movies besides this one?

I have had nero uninstalled completely because thats when this started so got rid of nero. So are you saying to uninstall cyberlink too because I did that once and reinstalled it and it did start to work only to the title screen. For some reason it wont play the movie just says program not responding. Also how do I start memtest86? I punched it in under all programs like I do for "msconfig" and "dxdiag" and it says nothing matches. I would like to test my ram. I am just getting frustrated, when one pays $8500 for a computer he expects it to work flawlessly for at least a month. I hope its just a software issue but I wont sleep til I know for sure. So please help me out with what I should do next. I am on a new pain medication and I am having a hard time concentrating. So thanks in advance.

its a software issue, for starters lets uninstall cyberlink then let me know.

membtest is a file you have to download and then burn to a disk or put on a floppy then boot off of to start.but you don't need to check any of that, your problem is software

Thats what I think too is thats its software. Im giving cyberlink one more chance I went to the website and its doing a test to see if I have all the updates and patches. It sure is taking a long time though its been running for 5 min. If this doesnt work I will uninstall it all again. I will let you know either way though. Im playing "Fable 2" that I just got for the 360 so I am doing that while this test my system.

It wont uninstall now. WTF none of the cyberlink programs will uninstall now. Tried to uninstall another program and it does fine its just the cyberlink stuff that wont.

How do I uninstall it now? Im stumped. I did get it to uninstall the power dvd part of it by putting in the disk and it said it detected another version that it had to uninstall it first before it could install. So I let it uninstall it then when it was done I cancelled the installation and the dvd part was gone but I still cant get rid of the rest of it please help DS

I tried reinstalling using the disk and it did (the windows installer quit working twice and the check online for a solution window went up) but everything installed finally but none of it will uninstall. Still need advice here on how to get rid of this.

did you try to use CCleanerfor uninstall PG1?

Just tried it first I ran the clean up then I tried to remove it by itself and it still will not delete it. Now I am getting worried something is seriously screwed up. may have to call in a pro to look at it to see if he can fix it before I have to ship it back to DS

The times I reinstalled it (because it will reinstall it just wont uninstall) when it got to the end of the reinstall process I get the message DIFx.exe has stopped working and the c;\ command prompt pops up. And I click on "search the net for a solution" and it fixes it. It does this about 3 times until it finally reinstalls.

I even upgraded the player to thier newest version and it still wont work it just goes to the title screen and will not play. I have contacted cyberlink to see what they say.

PG1 you have a tendency to keep going with what you want to to do, give me a chance to do what we need to do.

just uninstall powerdvd and don't do anything else and let me know when you have please.

I CANT GET IT UNINSTALLED. thats the problem it will not uninstall even with the cleanup tool. It will only reinstall, I cant even delete it. I did get it to work though past the title screen (thanks Tom) but that does not solve why it will not uninstall off my system

Any app that does not allow you to remove it easily is "crap app" by my standards.

try safe mode let me know, if that does not work we can try other things, once we remove it, I can give you some stuff to download and will let you play what ever you want.

Cyberlink at least answered my problem, they sent me the microsoft windows cleaner which they say will remove thier app. I just got home so I have'nt tried it yet. Will keep you posted as soon as I get it deleted. Thanks, Guy Preston

Just want to make sure before I delete all the cyberlink 8 stuff (if I can that is) that you have something that is at least equal do if not better (because reinstalling will be a hassle) than cyberlink power DVD 8. Because once I delete this crap (which I believe it is because it wont uninstall easily) I will be without a blu ray player and dvd player and a blu ray burner as well as a general burner for all cd material. I could also use a good music player if you have any suggestions. Thanks for helping me out I have been away from the computer for too long and have lost track of the times sort of speak.

If you had just let me know that safe mode didn't do it, I would have advised you of the windows uninstaller myself and you have saved time


PG1 after you are done uninstalling it let me know and I will give you some stuff to download that will take care of it.

Well the power dvd deleted but I still have the cyberlink folder with the advisor, BD solution,instaburn, power2go and shared files in it. The windows cleaner wouldnt delete it either. When I just try and click on it to delete it it says I need permission and when I think I got it nothing happens. I cant believe this is so hard to simply delete something from my computer. I did reply to cyberlink telling them of this problem so maybe they can help unless you have any ideas.

PG1 this folder is in your program files folder? what happens if you manualy try to delete it in safemode?
