First of all i would like to say Hi to everyone , ive been looking at DS for a couple weeks and finally decide on buying a desktop from here
Budget: For my budget its 1k-2.3k thinking about replacing my monitor either now or later but i definitely need a new mouse and keyboard. Expectations: I want to be able to play games such as guild wars 2, LoL , diablo 3, and future games i will buy either FPS (first-person shooter) or MMO's Usage: 80% gaming 20% movie watching Special Needs: It is my first real gaming PC so i want something that can last a awhile and i can upgrade along the way :) Im also open to people sending customized rigs. if you do can you throw in a wireless adapter because its going to be in the basement, and it can get dusty. i plan on getting it hopefully in the coming months cause i need to save up on it. Specifications: Im looking at the ODE but i dont know what level i should get and btw the monitor res that im using now is 1600x900. |

The ODE 2 will do you well and last for a good bit of time at 1600x900. The CPU has a nice overclock on it, along with 8GB of RAM and a powerful graphics card. Also nice is the SSD/HDD combo. Altogether, it's a great deal for $2000.
nVidia's 6 series is due to be released around now though; it's really kind of overdue. That might be worth waiting for, since it's right around the corner and will put you ahead by a generation compared to the current gen. Edited by ablahblah - 28 Feb 2012 at 8:09pm |

Hi Drakseth.....Like ablahblah said, for your resolution the ODE 2 is great. Even the ODE 1 would work performance wise, but the ODE 1 lacks the SSD and the psu and cpu cooler are a little light.
And like was said, new cards are close , but we don't know when, how much or perfromance. Depends how much you need a pc now. Here's a custom config you asked for, to compare to the ODE 1 & 2 and I'll explain.. Config # 660917 Cost $2134 Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master 942 HAF X Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 (Intel Z68 Chipset) (Features Intel Quick Sync Technology) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair HX (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (120GB Solid State (By: Corsair) (Model: Force GT Series CSSD-F120GBGT-BK) (SATA 6Gbps) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (500GB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (Model: Black Edition) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) (EVGA 012-P3-1571-BR) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 Extreme Performance H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro or Deluxe Series Motherboard) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty This config has a better mobo, able to overclock to stage 2 which I added. The HafX case is tops in cooling. The 750HX psu is better than the other psu's and comes with a 7 year warranty. The air cooler, D14, is better than the coolers in ODE 1 & 2. Very dependable and quiet. The gtx 570 is the same as ODE 1 but a little slower than the 580 in ODE 2. For your resloution the 570 will play great. I kept the SSD and HDD the same for cost comparison. I didn't do the wireless card, I don't know them. My second pc uses a USB wireless from D-LInk that plugs into a usb port. The custom config is more $$$ because of better parts. Another $200 and you could go ODE 3 with sli 570's, but that would be overkill for your needs right now. Don't know your fuutre needs. Hope this helps and Good Luck Edited by bprat22 - 29 Feb 2012 at 7:09am |

Thank you that help a lot but i have two questions
1. i was thinking about getting a Cooler Master Cosmos II chassis is there any differences than the one you suggested such as easier upgrade ability and so forth? 2. should i get the GeForce GTX 570 2.5GB instead of 1.2 GB ? and if i wait for the nvidia Kepler architecture how quickly does DS have them in stock. i do plan on getting a higher res monitor btw Edited by Darkseth - 29 Feb 2012 at 2:02pm |

The Cosmo 2 case is awesome looking and has some nice features, but the HafX beats it in cooling, by a good degree. If you look at the fans in both you'll see what I mean. Plus the Cosmo is large and expensive. Performance wise the HafX wins. You could add fans to it to bring it to HafX cooling, The 570 1.2 is great for your resolution. The 570 2.5 in single gpu will help in your resolution and if you move up. Other forum members have seen a difference. DS gets things in stock pretty quick. Can't really say in this case.

Hi Darkseth....Nice build.
A couple of suggestions. We always have suggestions. The Cosmo 2 case will be a bit louder than HafX with those 120mm fans. But I understand aesthetics and fan control, etc. Fan control looks cool and is fun, but if the fans are quiet and doing there thing, like in the HafX, then adjusting fans is not needed and just decreases cooling. If you do go Cosmo 2 I would ask DS to replace the top 120mm with a CoolerMaster MegaFlow 200 Silent non-led fan for a small charge. Not everyone wants HafX but it is the best in cooling so we always recommend it. The 750 HX is all you need for single gpu and comes with 7 year warranty. The 850TX is great but has 5 year warranty. I would go stage 2 oc....The cpu and cooler are made for it. The Noctua D14 cooler is out-of-stock until mid March. The Phantek tc14 is it's replacment for now and has a very similar size and performance. Ask DS to limit vcore to 1.4 or less. It's part of oc'ing and gives you max performance with long cpu life. If you're saving for a few months things might be different. New Nvidia gpu's are close and what's in stock now might be out then. You have a solid build and will play great.

Hi Darkseth.....vcore is the Voltage on cpu CORE, a product of overclocking. By limiting the vcore you get maximum performance from oc'ing without undue stress on the cpu chip. DS usually does it anyways but we always like to include it. Yep, new gpu's are close, or at least we think they are, so all depends are anxious you are.Good Luck
Missed your last question.....Yep, the Cosmos 2 has the option of a 200mm fan on top plus other fan options. The 200mm would be quiet.
