I have a few questions. I see a lot of recommendations for the gtx 280 / 260 after some research for a great graphic card on a 1900x1200 resolution the 4870x2 seems to be what a lot recommend.

Is the XtremeGamer sound card that big of a deal or is integrated fine?

Lastly how well would a  Q9650 be overclocked with liquid cooled CPU? Not overclocked by me by the person who builds it.

I have never bought a custom built PC before and compared to Alienware  you guys seem a lot better quality. If I was to buy this PC should I expect very high quality performance?

Alienware is not even comparable with DS.

with DS everything is the same thing you would buy if you were to build the pc yourself.

So you should expect much better quality, customer svc, tech support, better pc.

here you go Ticket# 194120 --- Price: $3491 (To see this build click here)

sli boards support only nvidia, you had the 790i with the 4870x2, if you plan on going crossfire down the road, then you can't use a sli mombo, if you are not gonn go crossfire ever, then you can use the 790i.

you can OC with air, but all the systems I have seen here at DS, all the liquid cooled systems had higher OC speeds.

with air you can expect 3.4 to 3.6GHz oc speed

with liquid you can expect 3.8 to 4.0GHz oc speed

if sound is not important to you, the intergrated will be fine.

I thought the 1600MHz was the best for overclocking you replaced it with a 1333?

yes we have a discussion about it here:

http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=4213

also look at the charts in there and you wills there is very little gain vs price to go with 1600MHz.

check it out and you will see, specially look at the charts listed and compare 4GB of 1600MHz ram with 4GB of 1333MHz ram. then fi the extra $200 is worth going with 1600MHz then go for it, I don't see it and your OC won't change much if any between 1600 and 1333.

but like I said look at the info in that thread, this is something you need to decide for yourself

So all ultimate has is a bunch of back up additions?

Vista Ultimate has a few extra bells and whistles.  I ordered it with mine because I want to be able to connect to my home PC while at work (hehehe), go to the Microsoft site they have it all broken down.  To me and what I need it for, it is worth the extra $$.

remote access is the only thing, the rest of the stuff you can do with freewares.

I mean including the remote connect, there is only 4 things different.

1. Protect against hardware failure...

this is just backup, this can be done easily with freeware.

2. Scan, fax, and receive documents and images..

again can be done with freeware, if you have a scanner it came with scanning software.

3. Remotely access your business resources...

this is the only thing, but how many people use it.

4. Better protect your data against loss...

this is basically encrypting data.

so there it is, difference between ultimate and premium.
