    Posted: 15 Jan 2009 at 11:08am

My budget is around $5,000 (not including keyboard, mouse, speakers and monitor). My current monitor is 1600 x 1200 resolution, but i intend on getting a monitor soon that runs at 2560 x 1600 or 1920 x 1200 at the very least. So i went with 1 video card for the time being until i get my dream monitor, then i will get another video card for sli.  I want a rig that is blazing fast, i am a hard-core gamer.  I play pretty much every competitive FPS that is out right now so i wont list them all.  I like to edit videos, make DVD's and i also use alot of musician software like Fruity Loops Studio and Cakewalk. As far as the Hard drive situation goes, i am unsure what to get, i dont know much about solid state disk and RAID 0 or whatever else there is. All i know is i want to load fast and spawn fast in my games to get a head start on the enemy. ( I want that gunship FIRST!)

I was originally going to get a rig from cyberpower, but after reading the forums and researching them i did a U turn out of there.  I feel completely comfortable with digital storm. If there is any information  i left out please let me know.

Here is my ticket, thanks in advance for your opinions and advice.

looks good couple of small changes:

change this to a 500GB:

Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 320GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA)

--------------

your optical drives are wrong:

optical one needs to be a DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW, lightscribe is you like, you don't need a second dvd drive but if you do choose a second one, make sure that one is DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW also, no point in having a reader when for 10 bucks more you can have a writer.

--------------

if you are not gonna go triple gpu or 2 x 295 in the future drop your psu to a 1000w, otherwise keep the 1200w.

Also, you could see about changing your sound card to asus which the sound guru of the ds forum said is supposed to be the best one.

@DST4ME

Thanks for the reply.  Good point about the optical drives.  Would i be able to burn 2 DVD's/CD's at the same time with that setup? That would be great.  Yes i 100% plan on getting another GTX295, after i get my super monitor of course.

@ctjones

Sure i'll look into the sound card.  I want a card with all the bells and whistles and great sound quality.  As i said i use musician software to create my own music and edit others. I also connect a MIDI keyboard, electric and acoustic guitars for recording. My sound card is pretty old so im sure either of the cards listed would be beyond my expectations.

Thanks again.

you can burn 2 at a time if your burning software allows you but for quality sake, burn only one at a time.
