Need help with a configuration

drop the ram to 1333mhz and make it 3x gtx 275's and your good, the 275 is the 285 killer.

the 285 gets 4 fps more than the 275 and cost 100 more and the 2gb version wont be useful for another 10 years games dont even use 1gb.

So I wonder if it would be worth it to go with 3 way SLI 285 1GB with 3 way water cooling for the GPUS which would put the system around an even $5000, would that allow me to overclock the GPUs enough so that I could get 60fps on, 2560 x 1600  with 4XAA/16XAF settings in Crysis Warhead and similar games

Thanks for the update, when you say to not go with the Intel SSD, can you recommend another that has close the specs.  I saw the 120 OCZ SSD might be a good one, but it is not recommended by DS on their website and I currently use 150 GB for my OS and a couple of games.  So I know I will need more then 120 but not much for my boot drive.  Also, do you know if DS optimize the SSD for Windows, as I hear that is required to get the X25-M to function properly.  I currently have 2 Velcioraptors 300GB each in RAID 0 on my XPS system and want an improvement on that setup.   Thanks again for your help.   

Also, I have thought about doing 3X60 OCZ drives in RAID 0 which is $100 more then then the X25 but I think would be crazy fast and outperform 1 160GB Intel SSD by a large margin.  Thoughts on this as well?   

I guess go with OCZ 250GB, all you need for SSD to run on windows is the latest firmware. optimizing here is referred to disabling defrag and such, there is no real optimization going on.

SSDs have faster seektime then Veloci and raid doesn't improve seektime enough to make a big enough difference.

in games you won't notice the difference between sli 275 and 285, if its benchmarks you are after thats a different story but in real time use, you won't notice the difference.

if you can LC the GPUs, it will help with heat.

at 4k read and write, nothing will touch Intel x25m and x25E is even a faster beast of course.

the 120GB and 250GB OCZ have better wear and tear then their smaller brothers and they are faster.

bluray is a waste of money and cost alot, he also said he needs more then 160GB which is why I recommended the 250GB ocz instead, his money would be better spent by droping the bluray and going with 250GB ocz.

Alright, yeah that's why I didn't add any other hard drives.

The one 250gb OCZ SSD for windows and other stuff, then the 2 300 gb velociraptors in RAID 0 would be a zoomin setup.  But why no Lightscribe DVD/CD RW drive?

I already have pretty much the best solution for movies, or atleast it was 5 months ago.  That is for my 60" Pioneer Kuro 6020FD professionally configured so that it is identical to the Elite addition and an awesome Pio elite reference bluray player with that sound system I mentioned earlier.  I actually hate going to watch a movie anywhere else now.  So no need for a bluray player.  I just read an article that two OZC RAID 0 will outperform one intel drive hands down.  I actually only need around 135- 50 GB  so I could go with the Intel no problem but I think the OCZ 3 way RAID 0 at 60 GB would really be awesome and be around the same price as the intel and get me 20GB more.    Also, do I need 3way SLI with overclocking to get great frame rates with the monitor I plan to use from Samsung or Dell?   I am thinking that the extra money spent on water could go to something else, unless their is a clear overclocking advantage. 

I'm unsure of how much extra overclocking the 275's will get you,  Liquid cooling will definitely be quieter, and you at least need cpu liquid cooling for your CPU if you want it OC'd to 4.0-4.2ghz.  And I also fear your expectations may be too high, nothing out right now, overclocked or not, will run Crysis all settings very high 2560X1600 with full AA and AF at 60 fps.  I'm moderately sure it will run it at 1920X1200 at very high with possible some AA and AF at around 35 fps, DST will correct me if I'm wrong because im sure he knows the correct benchmarks.  Crysis is a true monster, this setup will absolutely destroy every game on the market, and make Crysis very playable.  And it will look sexy as hell too 

Thanks for your input, I have thought about Intel for a long time, I had to RMA the Intel 80GB addition though which turned me slightly off on them.   I am not really worrried about losing data, as I like to perform clean installs every 6 months and eventually will do that with Win7.    This will be purely a gaming rig and my thought is 3 60GB OCZ drives will outperform the 160GB drive and cost just as much.   I am only concerned with the best performance possible, so I think that setup would make sense but would like to hear if OCZ is really bad or something like that. :)   Also, how long are they projecting until Direct X 11, if it is only two-three months, then it might be better to wait.  Although, most games these days do not even fully support directx 10.   Also, since I am not trying to set any overclocking records, why should I get the classified addtion? 

AbsiNthe is right nothing will run crysis at highest settings at 2560 x 1600, 3 x 275, 3 x 285 and quad sli 295 will all give you 23 fps to 27 fps in crysis at that resolution.

are you refering to dual loop LC vs single loop?

dual loop means the gpus get their own rad, pump, and the cpu will get its own rad and pump, this means each loop will have much better temps.

put 3 gpus and a cpu on a the same loop and that is lot of heat for the loop to deal with, your cpu and gpu temps underload will not be very good.

above 1200 x 1000 resolution ram speed will make zero difference in games.

LC for the gpus is only recommended for temps, 3 gpus in one case underload will put out some heat, but its up to you, you don't have to go LC on gpu.

if you like drop LC on gpus and instead upgrade the fans.

Thanks, yeah it might make more sense to go with the GPU cooling for me...but it sounds like I either need to go dual loop or upgraded fans.  As far as monitors, do you recommend the one DS sells on here?  I can't really find it much cheaper any where else, although I have heard good reviews on the Dell 30" which is selling for $300 dollars cheaper and appears to have fast response types.  Not sure if you game at resolutons greater the 1920X1200 though.

So this would be considered the best gaming rig available, with performance/price/sound quality in mind?
