Hi! My friend recommended me this instantly and ecstatically when I asked him some websites that would help me with getting what I need for my new computer.

My budget: $1,000(FOR EVERYTHING, includes mouse, monitor, etc).. I don't want to go over budget, but wouldn't be too upset if it was just a bit over.. but I'd be ecstatic if I came in under-budget so aim for that! :)

Computer Purpose: I'll be using this computer mainly for schoolwork, facebook, youtube, etc.. but will also do some gaming on it. For the most part I think it'll be lower end games that any desktop can run, but I may also get back into Counter Strike.. so I'd really like it to be able to handle Counter Strike Source if I play on 1024x768 resolution.

Extras: I'm tech-savvy when it comes to USING computers, but I am totally clueless when it comes the parts of a computer, computer specs, etc.. so I won't be much help with that if you need to ask me questions!

Not sure that can be done here, for good quality parts, that budget won't do.

the lowest you can do here and keep proper performance is ode 0 which is over your budget but the lowest build we can make:

Ok yea I guess I should've checked out the products before I posted this, but if you have any recommendations for sites I could check out that fit my budget I would really appreciate it!

Well Rain50 problem is that all builders are not the same, if you find a build cheaper then that some place else that means you are looking at a big headache, you can't get quality parts and get everything you said.

The reason I gave my money to DS to build my pc is because after looking at all the builders DS was the one that cared about quality and customer.

I can point you to many cheaper builders but I would not recommend a single one, unless you want a pc that don't work and company that could careless.

Rain50  DTS4ME is correct.  there alot of boutiques out there that can sell you something cheaper but it doesnt make them better.  but you start looking at most pc hardware magazines and sites you will see the same 4 companies on top all the time Digital storm, ------- , --------- , -----------------.  and none of them will get you a better price than Digital storm. 
 
Lets put it this way 6 years ago i purchased my wife a gaming rif for $1400 with -------------- for roughly $300 less than what i could elsewhere and thought i had a great deal but then when it got here the case had a big scratch down the side and dented panel from poor packing,
The soundcard did not work (at all) and had to be sent in (at my expense) and took 3 MONTHS to have a new one shipped to me (at my expense) also on receiving the computer the media card adapter was not plugged in at all. i had to figure out how to plug it in myself because i couldnt get ahold of ------------------  support.  afterwards it worked fine but that is what i got for saving by going to a cheaper boutique.  
 On the otherhand  last winter i bought my wife a computer by -------------- and it was light and day better experience and they took care of us every step of the way.  But i can tell you this they dont have the selection that Digital storm has and thier prebuilt systems are much a more expensive one price fits all (very good one).
 
But what brought me here was that Digital Storm was consistantly rate with the other leaders in the industry AND they had a more flexible selection 
 
dont just look at the price of the computers on the configuraters, look at outside forums and sites and see the reputaion of the resellers, and look on thier forums ... if they dont have any offical forums you should instantly steer clear of them as thats a sign that they do not wish to stay in communication with you.

Thanks very much for those last 2 replies. I also have to ask then, what are your opinions then on me buying the parts from a site such as newegg and building my own for closer to budget? I'm not testing you guys, I know you are very smart in this area and I just want to know your honest opinion about doing that versus buying the rig that DST4ME posted.

You might save a $100 or so by going to newegg vs ode, ode is very aggressively prices and some parts are as low as you can go to save money( like psu).

at the end of the day, if you want a current platform so that this pc serves you well for the next 5 years with minor upgrades (gpu), the budget you have is not gonna cut it, but building it yourself will save you a few buck, tho it might have lot of headaches.

Gotcha, and say I just have 1 question about the rig you've recommended.. am I able to connect to wireless internet with it? I'm moving to my own place in January and unsure if I'll be able to hook it up directly.

You can always connect via lan that is the best.

you can connect any pc wireless as long as the pc has a free pci slot for the wireless card. Which is what you need to connect wireless a wireless card, this system does not have it, but you can always buy one and drop one in there if needed.

wireless for games tho will have more lag then lan.

  yes, you could perhaps save $100 buying and building from scratch but then you have to worry about the support for 7-10different items, and then you dont know how each item interacts with each other.
  Some parts from brand x dont work with brand y.  but getting an ODE machine from Digital Storm you have tested compatability and stability and if something happens you can contact digital storm instead of Asus,Corsair,Intel,Gigabyte, and Amd,Plextor,Western digital because you built a system with 7 different branded parts.  
Dont Build a computer for the savings because in the end it WILL cost you more build a computer because you like the challenge of finding out wich part works with wich and having fun putting it together.

Could you explain what you mean by connecting via lan?



I'm actually really considering doing this.. just gotta make sure its gonna work with the wallet.

Lan is land line, where you connect the pc to the modem via lan cable,


wireless is no cables of course but this has more lag cause wireless connection and true speeds are not up to par with lan yet.
